In games, I frequently keep getting a choppy sound effect with all in-game audio (not counting voice). snd_restart only temporarily fixes the problem, and I've already done a full re-installation of the game as well as verifying cache.

Has anyone else been having this issue since the update?

Could you record the audio? I somewhat recall maybe hearing something odd, but I'm not entirely sure because I keep my audio pretty low. If it's only in TF2 than it's most likely a problem between your sound hardware and the game, it will be fixed in a future update.

You could try recording a demo or directly recording the audio. Fraps or a graphics card capture system would work.

It sounded fine to me, so it must be client side. Might have to just wait for an update, but you can report the issue to valve if you wish. You would need evidence though, so that means an actual recording that records the exact audio, so an in-game demo would not work.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if it would record the audio issue or not.

I find myself needing to snd_restart almost every life. It's insane. I guess I'll record with a 3rd party program and submit it to Valve for review.

Was it like something with the hitsound? If so, I have the same problem. I changed all of my hitsounds and it still does the same thing. It might be something with the custom skins, huds, etc.

I'll remove the custom hitsound and see if that makes a difference. I didn't use custom skins or huds until after I started having the issue, but I've been using the same hitsound for awhile.
