So, I was pretty upset to be banned in the middle of playing, and I thought I must have done something to annoy the admins. I checked the bans and to me (Being it was an auto ban) it seemed like the console thought I was hacking. Come to find out, "SMAC 0.8.5.0: ConVar sv_cheats violation"
means that I have a script editing the console, which I do. I have a custom hud that requires an autoconfig to work properly. It also appers that this is a known issue with SMAC, and it tends to randomly ban people for this from time to time. I would be more than happy to provide screenshots of my autoconfig, and proof that this is a known issue. I hope I am chosen to be unbanned, as I play this server a lot recently.

No. SMAC does not randomly ban people because of their HUDs.

Which is exactly what I didn't say.
I said it banned me for my HUD's autoconfig. I ment autoexec, which does indeed modify the console for custom crosshairs, hieght width ratio, ect.
Also, you guys are running the plugin, so mind telling me what your defenition of "ConVar sv_cheats violation" is?
Thanks for the help, hope to hear a response.

If you truly want an explanation: When a client is using 3rd party software, aka Hacks and cheats, sometimes features of said hacks will attempt to bypass server CVARs in order for some of their features to work. SMAC is set to detect such things and automatically ban for them. So in your case, the hack you were using was attempting to override the servers CVAR of "sv_cheats 0" and give it a new value in order to allow your hack to work. There is not a single custom HUD anywhere that tries to override server cvars. Your excuse is obviously a complete fabrication. Also I am not an admin, I just felt I would save unnecessary further replies.

Yes, that particular module checks for clients trying to force their own CVAR on the server.

"The hack I was using", on my 9 year old account, with my 100+ games. Honestly, it was a goof of your system, i'm not going to argue anymore, just going to move on to another community. I have never hacked nor would I ever need to, i'm a good player, and if you check my stats, i'm not really that great. So to claim i'm using hacks, is an insult to me. Thank you for your assistance, this can be closed now.

It is impossible for a HUD to change sv_cheats. You can try it yourself by putting "sv_cheats 1" in your autoexec.cfg it will remain at 0.

The only way for a client to force it to 1 is to use a hack.
