Scarcely Lethal Noob
Just a thought on the AFK notices that indicate that a player is idle.

Having been playing as an Engineer on the servers several times, I have found myself seeing these notices while "busy" on the server.

If the Engineer is tapping away at his gun and dispenser, while holding off an assault from the other team, it is possible to get to a point where you either have to leave the buildings to be destructed, or get moved to spectator. (Then you loose the buildings anyway).

This also applies to setting up a gun with the Wrangler. If you get a setup where you are able to have another Engineer topping up your guns, while you spray everything down, you can get into trouble with the AFK notice.

I understand the use of the AFK, to stop people sitting in the game, while going off for what ever reason, but is it possible to fine tune the settings to see if the player is performing an action?

Engineer getting an AFK warning, while holed up in a nest?

The jokes write themselves. :troll:

I guess the only "tip" that I have is don't just sit behind your gun the entire round, and you won't get a warning.

Edit: I think the warning triggers after 90 seconds of "inactivity" which I think is based on movement, not actions (such as banging away at your gun).

This is never a problem for me even when playing Engineer, just move a little. And if you really just don't want to move, type something in chat.

Thank you for the type tip, I will try that.
I don't like to "hole up" behind my guns, I like to look for an opportunity to get my gear into the advance locations, but it all depends on how the game is rolling. :sunglasses:
