I had a suggestion on integrating a simple kill/death ratio command in Skial servers.

/kd (for example)

So, instead of visiting the Skial Stats page during game, I would simply type in /kd.

Also, I feel many others would appreciate seeing their kill/death ratio from time to time.

If this were to happen, there would be an addition in the "Server Help" thread. It would fall under the "Commands" category.

An example for /kd would be as follows:
  • /kd
Displays your Skial's Kill and Death ratio, as well as overall number of kills and deaths accumulated on Skial.

I'm going to make my post as simple as possible so people don't get the wrong impression of rating me of what I am not supposed to get rated.

I agree with this. Good suggestion.

This would require the complicated coding of a plugin that does not exist. It's not like hlstats, which already has the "kdeath" plugin coded. Plus, your scoreboard shows your kills and deaths. It takes you two seconds to do a rough estimation in your head of what that is divided out to. I don't think this is needed, especially considering all the worth that it would take to be coded. -1

Apologies if I caused confusion, but by kill/death ratio I meant the overall kills and deaths during the time one has played on Skial servers.

You mean something that takes two seconds to get to on your page? Again, -1.
Totally understand what you're saying. And, not to flare up an argument, but the /rank command which shows Skial rank and rating "takes two seconds to get to on your page" as well. Just a minor detail.

-1

When KDR gets focused on, it encourages people to not play essential roles that doesn't require kills to be a team player, such as Medic.

That issue is bad enough as it is; this would exacerbate it.

You can just get a rough idea of your KD by just checking your stats pages, and it's not even that important.

Lifetime KDR is a lot less fluid than your rank. Once you get into thousands or tens of thousands of kills/deaths it's going to take weeks for it to even slightly change. I would rather people just look up the ratio manually when it interests them instead of adding another plugin that contributes to server load. For the same reason I don't really care much for /rank, but Bott put a lot of work into it and it's much more representative of how good you're doing than KDR, so I can understand why it's there.

Not only that, but I feel that it may encourage selfish, risky, and overall bad play.

For some classes k/d means absolute zero, medic, engy, DR spy.
It's good for a snapshot after say a highlander match, but in general it is pretty meaningless.

-1 K/D means nothing, the lifetime K/D is even worse of a representation as it goes all the way back, a better method would just be checking your current K/D or using the
/rank command.

Curious about Dead Ringer Spy, why is K/D a bad measure?

I play DR spy often, and I can top the round almost every time. My KDR is absolute shit though. Why? Because I just keep going at 'em and going at 'em and going at 'em, and I rack up tons of points over many many deaths.

Isn't that just the same for many other classes?
