New Add Jailbreak Servers to Skial — A Fresh Game Mode to Expand the Community

I’d like to propose something that I believe could bring new life, variety, and community engagement to the Skial network — dedicated Jailbreak servers.


What is Jailbreak?​


For those unfamiliar, Jailbreak is a unique and role-based game mode that pits two teams in a prison scenario — Guards and Prisoners. Guards give orders, prisoners must follow them, and chaos (or clever escapes) often ensue. It's a mix of strategy, deception, teamwork, and fun.


It’s more than just TF2 as usual — it's a social, dynamic mode that encourages mic use, personality, creativity, and roleplay. Every round is different.


Why Skial Should Add Jailbreak Servers:​

1. Expands Game Variety​

Currently, Skial focuses on tried-and-true modes like 2Fort, Dustbowl, and Trade. Adding Jailbreak gives players something new and encourages longer play sessions.

2. High Community Engagement​

Jailbreak players are loyal and vocal. These servers often build tight-knit communities. Skial already has a strong playerbase — why not give them more to be loyal about?

3. Skial’s Brand + Jailbreak = Perfect Fit​

With your anti-cheat systems, responsive moderation, and polished server structure, Skial could easily run the best JB servers on the platform. You already have the infrastructure — this is a content upgrade, not a technical overhaul.

4. Potential to Attract New Players​

Many players look specifically for Jailbreak. Adding these servers can pull in new traffic, diversify the community, and keep Skial competitive against other TF2 server networks.


What I’d Suggest:​

  • Launch a test Jailbreak server under the Skial name.
  • Use a popular map like jb_undertale, jb_minecraft, or jb_8bit to start.
  • Gauge community interest, maybe even run a poll or feedback thread to track its success.
  • Have a set of basic JB rules (many existing servers already have good templates to base on).

Final Thoughts:​

Jailbreak is loud, creative, and memorable. Skial already has a reputation for fun, accessible TF2 experiences — adding Jailbreak would amplify that even more.


I would love to see what Skial could bring to this mode. With the right support, it could easily become one of the most active JB communities in TF2 today.

The mode would be complex to implement, especially since communication is key to it.
I would suggest that a Cops and Robbers dr map be created, but I am not a map creator for TF2, so I can't speak to the specifics.
But man, it was fire playing in custom rooms during Halo: Reach days. It followed a similar structure to DR now. (1 cop, rest robbers)
Learning map making on TF2 is not like Halo so if I try, god knows how long lmao

Also to increase variety, there needs to be a hot pursuit map too. Like the kart mini in raiders.
 
But overall, yes I do believe this could work, as the only 2 active jailbreak servers right now are Panda and Black Wonder.
Black Wonder rarely gets a full server and mostly works with 10-12 players nightly, while Panda is always stacked to the brim with different mechanics and setup
A Skial Jailbreak server would be just as, if not, better than Panda if its done right.
 
It's unlikely bottiger would go through the effort to make a new server but if he did he would have to do things differently from before and it would require a 24/7 babysitter.
 
+1 But assuming it is added, if possible keep the map list short (like maybe 15 max) and have them be high quality/player favourites e.g. HopJB, Casuarina, Bootcamp. Quite often when I used to play on Blackwonder we'd have a full server and then end up going to a shit map that cut the playercount in half

Also let inmate melee's random crit I want to instakill guards with the skullcutter

Oh hey, it's Jailbreak again.
It was extremely enjoyable but honestly, I don't think there's any chance of it being revived. sorry.

+1 but no hope. I already let go of this. I would rather have VSH servers to return instead.


For those who weren't there, Skial's jailbreak was unique compared to other servers, having more simpler and more player friendly to play and understand with.

Such as Wardens being allowed to type instead of using the mic (displayed like an admin text in the middle of your screen).
Or the baiting rule being completely removed (Any hit on BLU = KOS no matter what)
Games that involve the warden being able to choose who dies like Hat Day were banned. (Opened up to favoritism)
