When someone submits hacking vote reports an admin is often not present to watch in time and it just gets left as need evidence, coupled with the fact that most casual players don't even know a forum exists to put a demo on. The typical TF2 player just clicks the most populated server in the browser, they don't care about its forum or even have a clue where reports end up, they just wanna play the game. They probably assume you just have some app that alerts you and you'll be right there.

It could help things a great deal if players over a certain number of AP (regulars in other words) can choose to be alerted in game when a hack vote report has been made. They can then join the server and demo the person in question for an admin to view once it's submitted or disregard the report if nothing looks off. You have far more forum aware regulars than you have active admins and this could stop a lot of people from slipping the net if someone can start recoding them in time when an admin isn't around.

I get where you want to go with that suggestion but it really implies skial isn't doing a good job with its admins to the point where skial regs have to do what admins are supposed to do. In my opinion, if any forum reg wants to be useful, they can check the reports section everytime they respawn or during setup to see if any report has been made.

That being said, No Heroes has a system that alerts any admin as soon as someone calls for help. I've played on their servers a few times and everytime i called for an admin, someone joined almost immediately (i'm aware No Heroes doesn't have as many servers as skial does and there are only two popular servers, so it means less and easier work for their admins). Still, I don't know if skial is willing to implement that.

Oh man... if Jailbreak was as popular as it used to be, and how skial used to get almost 20 reports in an hour in Jailbreak... Oh boy. Id +1 just for that. But I got no idea if ths would even be a good idea in general because of how easy it is to abuse reports.

I'm not criticizing admin response times, I'm just being realistic about the admins also having to get on with their normal life/work and give time to reports as well. The two obviously can't match perfectly, but a constant flow of regulars can go and check immediately with an alert system. I actually do check reports often, but I miss a lot myself and the person has long gone with no evidence. Multiply that by x100 and the odds of getting proof increase dramatically.

UKCS had a similar call system where an admin was there like lightning, but it was the same deal...they only really had about 3 busy servers, Skial has a lot.

Well the votes are already abused as it is, but normally !votereport for hacking tends to only go through with good reason fron my own experience. The likes of false mute/racism votes tend to get abused more. And you can always just keep an account/ip track of players who seem to be making way too many votes and give them a brief ban as it is.

I don't think this will make much of a difference compared to our current system.

One major reason we don't push notification is because sometimes admins want to play the game without being disturbed. When they want to handle reports then they can look at them if they want.

If you really want push notifications, you can subscribe to the forum and have your email client display popups.

If people find out that 1 report will spam a message to 100 other people, you can bet they are going to abuse it.

We all know that most players are too lazy to get on the forums, but you can't just stuff everything into the game. The chat box is too small to hold all the relevant information and scrolls off too quickly.

Could there be an option to enable/disable the report feed so players can choose whether their client is fed the information or not? If it was off by default then people willing to use it are probably prepared to deal with possible abuse of it. It also shouldn't be too difficult to track who is abusing it frequently.

One more thing, the suggestion is specifically for hacking reports not any report. When I've seen a !votereport go through for hacking it generally tends to be right or the accused person instantly leaves suggesting it was right. A lot of demos I've sent in were taken after I saw a votereport come up.

-1 just cause Agent Orange Suggestion kidding but seems like a if it ain't broke don't fix it kind of thing.

-1 seems creative, but no need for this as things run smooth as they are.

Just a thought....the alert could appear at the top of the screen or something like the ad popup text on trade servers (although that's in the center), then it's not spamming the chat box or even that game distracting. And as I said people could just use a command to disable it if they don't want to see it and have it off by default. The noise from the panel link is drowned out by game sound too easily and you really need to alt tab out to see reports.
