Eh.. I guess I just don't care about that stuff as much as you do, I still think Steam is fun. And let's face it, you like Xenoblade's characters too much to not love the game.
okay, so i get that this is over and done with. But how does codename steam's battle system not being as complex as others (which is basicly how you described it) make it not fun? The gameplay itself is engaging and forces you to pay attention, and rewards for for paying attention.
pikmin is a strategy game that does not have engaging characters. Take the pikmin for example. All you need to do is learn the what they're good at compared to other pikmin and use them in the correct situations.
you don't grow as attached to them because you can literally have 100 of the same type of pikmin on the field at a time. You don't care as much about them. But the gameplay is still rewarding and extremely fun.
I'd say Pikmin is more of a puzzle game that requires fast reactions, it's not turn based. Codename STEAM requires you to think and pay attention, but so do all strategy games. I dont know, it may just be me, but I like the choice of pre-battle preperation and using class/equipment systems much like Xcom, VC, and FE do, and the pre-battle prep is half the battle.
Of course Pikmin is fun but it's different. I'm comparing it to some notoriously good strategy games, FE, VC, and Xcom are all really fun and good. I also like picking who kills who and who gets what exp
pikmin doesn't require fast reactions (well, the first one did because you were on a time limit) You can leisurely stroll through and decide on how you want to attack the enemies because most of them aren't extremely agressive until you're in close quarters with them.
Steam is pretty different from Fire Emblem but you guys are comparing those two games. And yes at their core and how it's played are a bit different so don't say they are the same due to turn based poo.
And I was talking about the characters. it being turn based has nothing to do with it. Caring about the characters doesn't contribute a whole lot to what makes a game good.
