This is a VERY slippery slope, who determines what constitutes "trolling" I fear that this gives the admins too much power.
I agree except repeat offenders often repeat because they don't care and don't respect anyone elses time or energy. I rarely see people that get to 3 months not just leave or get a perma right after. You can't reason with the unreasonable.I still think they are only needed for actually serious offenses such as pedo jokes, illegal stuff like doxxing, long time harassment, sexual harassment. Although in serious harassament situations I'll probably permaban instead because even the presence of the perpetrator on the same server while muted, is enough to make the other party feel unsafe and uncomfortable.
I don't count saying the hard r or other slurs nearly as serious as the above examples, it's mostly just disgusting low intelligence behaviour. 3 months is a long time to wait for them and for us it's very simple to re issue if they still decide to do it again. If they keep doing it after several times then we'd probably consider permanent solutions in a case by case basis.
This isn't our guideline but I'm personally also against giving longer mutes than couple weeks for minor things such as voteabuse or micspam.
I'm more interested in figuring out ways to stop people from repeating their offenses than punishing for the sake of punishment. However this system is still fairly new and prone to change based on the results and I'm always open to discussion on improvements but only if the other party is arguing in good faith and can support their claim. I don't want to waste time rebutting a bunch of fallacies
Agreed. So many people showing up now from the mass unban who just show up and repeat what got them permabanned. It sends a bad message all around when you don’t make these kinds of people reckon with the consequences of being unable to use what they abuse.I agree except repeat offenders often repeat because they don't care and don't respect anyone elses time or energy. I rarely see people that get to 3 months not just leave or get a perma right after. You can't reason with the unreasonable.
This would make sense only if it wasn’t regarding the one form of communication that easily allows for rule-breaking. No one enjoys admin who go “just deal with the guy screaming into the mic or blasting porn audio, just mute him.” That doesn’t send a message that such activity is undesirable in general, it just makes it look like admin don’t care.I guess smaller communities have to go through the phase of sucking up to snowflakes just like big triple A games did then wondering where 80% of their playerbase went, dont get me wrong rules are fine for excessive stuff but baby proofing everything to make sure no one gets offended is how you go down a rabbit hole where you basically dont allow people to speak at all or even like with roblox where they try to moderate people pressing W and S behind you lmao.
"Except when they're lobbied against me, & then they should all be muted"I mean if the insults are completely justified, then it shouldn't warrant a mute lol.
That very rude to say to all of usEveryone in Skial is wrong and stupid and dumb except for me and if you disagree your wrong and stupid and dumb
What if I halfheartedly agree (in a custom font)?Everyone in Skial is wrong and stupid and dumb except for me and if you disagree your wrong and stupid and dumb
"Except when they're lobbied against me, & then they should all be muted"
Careful of the slippery slope
