It's a long message, colorful, distracting and unnecessary. Can we at least turn the frequency down from what seems like every 5 minutes to once a map?

Or better, let donators disable it entirely. Please and thanks!

we can't disable duels, they come directly from steam to your game, so it bypasses the servers; currently an exploit that's going under review by valve.

please use the command cl_notifications_show_ingame 0 in your console to disable these duel spam messages.

They're talking about the new chat message in the servers which are about that. I don't think it appears any more frequently than the others but I wouldn't know that of course.

I think decreasing the amount of automated messages altogether would make the chat more clean and pleasant. It has always felt a bit cheap to constantly see them in between conversations

And yes the new message doesn't play any more than the other messages, this complaint always comes when a new message is added. You just notice it more because it's new and you aren't used to it

oh, I misinterpreted then sorry.

but since it's a very new message, for example when the parkour server was announced, the messages were only frequent for a couple of weeks then the messages went back to normal, it'll show up less and less with time for sure.

Big +1 to this overall. As someone who surfs a lot while reading chat messages at the same time the amount of times I glance at chat and it was just the same old server message is way too many. I feel a decent amount of people seem to ignore chat messages and I don't doubt this contributes. If somehow these messages could be turned off entirely for individual users that'd be a blessing. Yes I'm aware there are fake skial servers, yes I'm aware Skial is one of the biggest TF2 communities, yes I'm aware people can pretend to be staff. I can imagine Bottiger probably wants people to have this ingrained and it's why it's so persistent, but after so many hours of playing on Skial I'm sure enough people won't forget it. I think it's been mentioned before, but it being a donator perk wouldn't be a bad option to incentivize people donating more. I know I would've gotten into donations just because of that feature personally tbf (but I already donate regardless). Another idea could be to just in general open the feature up to people who've played long enough on Skial, but whichever would work best for the server.

+1, its like a whole paragraph on top of the other chat warning about fake admins and skial's servers, get rid of plz

The reason why they are displayed as much as they are is because they are often ignored.

I remember someone saying they played on Skial for 5 years, and then they said I didn't know skial had a website. People will not notice anything until it is in their face.

I feel it's like the same as TV commercials. "Not many are buying our product, so let's push out more and more ads on TV!" "Oh it's this commercial for the millionth time, *subconsciously ignores until it's over*. Which ends up for people ignoring chat *in general*, not only just server messages.

This is why I say for it to potentially be a donator perk to be able to turn it off there. You need to know enough about Skial to actually donate, like them actually knowing there's a website and such.

Honestly, you can probably have some sort of questionnaire to enable the feature to be able to turn these messages off.

1. Are you aware of fake skial servers and how to find real ones? Type in the command to find real ones here: "!servers or skial.com/servers"
2. What's the command to disable duel spam?: "cl_notifications_show_ingame 0"
3. Does having "Skial" in their name mean they're admin/mod? "No"
4. Does being kicked/muted on the server mean a Skial admin/mod was on?: "No, could've been !votemenu"
"Congrats! Type !servermsgs to toggle them on/off"

Applications for admins/mods already have the "type sm_ban "[U:1:84008346]" 0 "aimbot" to prove you know how to ban obv aimbotters" so I don't know, could be an idea. I still think it's enough from just donating personally.

On technically a sidenote cuz this is more of a plugin-feature purpose than Skial-about one, this one really murders chat most vs the rest imo, not really sure why, I know the command by now + way too many reminders on it lol
