I can say without a doubt that santassination is our most played map on ZE Skial, not for a good reason either, this map has been nominated so many times that most of us can lose track of how many times we play santa just daily, i personally like leading these maps but its way too overwhelming and anxious for us to be play santa 5 times minimum a day.

I dislike how skial has done nearly nothing to battle against the same map getting picked over, santa used to be tolerable to play when it was 32 players, it was actually picked less but now with 64 players, and a more casual playerbase from what it used to be santassination is just an joke that these ZE kids or people that arent serious pick to ruin the enjoyment of others, we might be doing so good on a map but we go to santa because kids want to ruin the enjoyment.

+1 I would like too see this added for all tryhard maps like lms, obj, bio and many others because it just kills the server when these kind of maps get overplayed

Also with longer cooldowns, the time to play these maps are going to be more organized which can stop making many of us become anxious when the map gets picked.

I've seen many runs getting snatched because somebody nominated santassination

I can say about 50% of runs after the 64 player update that these santa, best korea runs, are leaderless when a leader actually matters, without one they just get softlocked on stage 1 best korea or stage 2 santa

To add to this, even if they do somehow miraculously get past those hurdles (casual mode, someone taking pity and actually trying to guide them, afk zombies, some combo of the above), the next stage proceeds to stump even the most intelligent of the children (despite having played the map 20x that month). They proceed to rtv and pick a different map in the cycle of santa --> krusty --> korea --> banban --> scp (with similar results).

Over a 1 month span, santa has been picked 71 or so times. Assuming a 30 day month, this translates to over twice a day...which the server gets stuck on the same exact part repeatedly.

After a santassination or a map that breaks the cycle that Lord Zuko pointed in the post above would kill the aerver as both randoms and regulars leave the server, a map like ze_ffvii_mako_reactor or ze_quicksand to revive the server with people just before going back into the cycle.

Many of us regulars are trying to go against this cycle but there are 70% randoms and 30% regulars.

I will quickly put in my two cents to this.

I do not think it should be a long cooldown for luff maps. They are a very diverse mapper who has contributed and made more maps than just the popular ones we commonly see. Maps such as predator, frost drake, and diddle will suffer if all luff maps had this extended penalty, maps that we have hardly played since my time coming into the community this past month.

HOWEVER, I do think the top 5-7 maps of a season, a statistic that can be tracked as far as I am aware, should be on higher cooldown than others. This would allow more variety in map choice on a per 3 month basis. By the time new maps start to grow stale, a new season would be starting. As for the length of cooldowns, I would go as far as to put a 18 hour cooldown on them, or simply a higher than normal 10 map cooldown.
This isnt a perfect solution, but it opens more avenues for discussion instead of luffaren map overplayed.

I am fully against this idea. I think it will set a terrible precedent. If you put luff maps on a longer cool down, I would like Luciddreams, Offliner and Cosmo Canyon to also be put on a longer cooldown, simply because I feel like we play them too much.

Everyone complains about the luff maps, but seem to ignore that we USUALLY play Lucid at least 4 times a day, and the problem is exacerbated because there's two different versions of the map.

Edit: Furthermore, Santa would not be so painful if you regulars would stop forcing a truth run every time we play. It adds at minimum, an extra hour and a half to every Santa run. If we could just beat Fat Santa and go, the map would be over very quickly.

It's usually about 5 to 6 minutes on prologue, 15-20 to beat the 1st stage, 15-20 to beat the 2nd stage. Two hours on truth, when it would take about 30 minutes to just beat fat santa and go. The entire map would be over in about an hour.

About 80% of santa runs get stuck and rtv off santa before they even get to Act III, Luciddreams is a "revive the server" type of map similar to mako, cosmo canyon, and offliner, and now with the removal of visualizer (and temporarily realm) many of these maps have been stopped being considered as this because of the lack variety and because Skial ZE has become more casual than before adding a long map cooldown targetting specifically maps like these would make these players play more maps of variety.

It's difficult to do this due to how little maps we actually have that are actually unenjoyable or flat out bugged.

I believe specifically predator and frostdrake can be exceptions to this as they are a "once in a blue moon" type of map.

The solution may not to just make these specific maps to be increased but to Increase the map cooldown from 3 to 6 or over 6.

1. Its not like your opinion matters at all ash
2. Let the ppl who know the gamemode talk cuz you have no idea about it
3. You are one of the ppl who forces the cycle so if your opinion was a 0, now is negative

I have 500 hours in the game mode. I feel like I know what I'm talking about at this point.

Santa is also a "revive the server" map and it does it much better than the lasermaps. It just brings players you don't like.

Gatekeeping doesn't make your opinion the right opinion

They should do this on deathrun too.

Too many of the meme maps get overplayed

+1
Hard disagree, if players want to play shitty meme maps and the shitty meme maps keep the server full let them, from a hosting perspective there's no reason to implement a change that would directly hurt the server's popularity and monetization. All forcing players to play maps they don't like does is incentivize people to leave the server, other servers already have similarly long cooldowns, and those servers usually end up dead for the day once the daily allotment of meme map nominations are used up.
