probably just has guns sitting around like my dad does

luckily i would only shoot my siblings if they made me angry

There's no excuse for ignorance. The parent(s) responsible should be sent to prison. There's literally no reason to leave a weapon in an insecure place like a night stand where children can reach it. It's not hard to find and install a secure lock box for your pistol that can keep your children out while still allowing you to access it in an emergency.
