Recently in Jailbreak, I notice that people are using meme lines and music via the mic, I have no problems with the memes, they are sometimes funny, but the Music is the problem.

During that music, in Jailbreak, the people who actually use mics to talk, lose our freedom to speach due to that music playing over our voices, Yes, we can use chat too, but some of us are used to use the mic.

If the music player is the warden, Nobody can use the mic at all, and this lasts until the music finally ends.

Now, I know what will pop up:

Darkian, Just mute them via TF2's Mute Players window.
This takes away the ability to read the music player's chat, What if you become the warden and the round before you the music player was LR and says "Next warden must type after every order: cause I'm dumb", You don't know cause you muted him, You won't be able to read his LR and DW aswell,...

That is why /ignore exists:
And type that every single time for every music playing person whenever they join or I join? No thank you.

Then start a vote via the votemenu:
It mostly doesn't pass, with the people saying "No".

I'm also going to create a poll for this.

Post down in the replies for any complaints, comments, +1's or -1's, Thank you.

I'm interested to see what people think about this. Personally I don't mind either way, however I do understand the complaints.

People on Jailbreak more and more seem to not understand that it is only music micspam that we allow and are using it more and more for things like soundboards.

I think, from a purely technical point of view, that the microphone is very important in Jailbreak for the communication between Guards and Prisoners and - much like Trade - it should probably be better to be banned... but I will wait to see how the support is for this.

I think music should be allowed as long as it doesn't interfere with a warden (or guards) using the microphone.

Music should not be allowed in jailbreak because if a warden is talking and the other is playing music that really gets annoying +1

EDIT: if the warden is taking and there’s music play they should be muted how ever play music when warden taking

You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
This already happens, no one can use the microphone when the Warden is.

I generally wouldn't mind people playing music but most of the people who play music play loud and annoying memes which really remove the freedom of people who really just want to talk.
Same for the FF2 server

Think music spam should be removed on all servers, Give them an offical DJ stream on the servers to stream crap to and let the community decide who can dj and not by voting.

Way it is now you get too many spaming stupid sounds or stuff they like, and half the time its not what anyone would even remotely call music really last one a cat screaching with some beats is music? Rip 2017 music industry go listen to your car engine outside its the greatest hit 2017.

As for jail break if it affects gameplay then no music same as trade.

I agree, I've joined loads of servers and I had to waste my time muting loads of micspammers. The music can be really annoying as well which makes you know that it's supposed to be trolling. Micspammers in Jailbreak however borders people's speech on the mic, especially if it's really loud.

I am a -1 because I rarely notice an issue with music spam.

Although, I have a partial solution (but I don't know how practical it is with the vote plugin).

I know the server rules say the server decides whether or not someone is allowed to play music. So, what if we add to the votemenu another option where people can vote if an individual can play music? If it passes (simple majority), they aren't gagged by the server, but have to stop playing. If they keep playing despite the vote, then they can be reported and punished from there.

You can use cl_mute_all_comms 0 to read player chat but keep the voice muted.

And what about other mic users?

They can use it too if they are tired of the voice communication is being clogged with someone not serious to use their mic for communicating.
Skial's stance on music micspam as I see is left to the players to decide if they want it or not by voting.

There's exceptions like trade servers where communication over voice is critical enough to warrant a music ban.
I don't play Jailbreak so I don't know how vital voice communication is over there but if it's about the same as trade servers then I agree to banning music on Jailbreak over mic.

On Jailbreak the warden may use the mic. So you need to be able to follow his orders, both teams need to have heard what the warden has said.

If prisoners don't hear it they won't know what to do and if the guards don't hear it they won't know what they're enforcing.

I think Jailbreak should at least disallow excessive music use, I don't want quick soundboard uses to fall under the rule if it is made however.

Maybe if it's over 10 seconds it is silenceable?

Just so everyone knows, everybody's microphones is disabled as soon as the warden starts talking so he's the only one being heard. It's impossible to play music or yell loudly over the warden's voice.

Perhaps this should be a thing for guards with mics too?

Guards don't get microphone priority, but they don't need to be giving orders out anyway.

True, I was just thinking of when a guard is also using the mic and warns somebody, though I guess that's not even necessary assuming the warden said no mercy.
