Declined New Map for Jail Break - ba_mariopartyextended_v4

Reasons:
-Jail Break desperately needs a new map
-The two most played maps, ba_mlcastle and ba_jail_minecart are overplayed, and it would be nice to see some variety
-It comes with new mini-games that have not been seen before in a skial jailbreak map
-New obstacle course
-All of the mini-games included are fully functional

If this map isn't added, then I recommend skial pursues adding other jailbreak maps as well.

+1, it seems like a good map. It will take some getting used to, but I'm up for some changes.
 
+1 If you get rid of the thwomps crushing you. It isn't fair for us to have to go to medic and end up dying anyway, especially if we have been freehit. Also remove the shooting range. It will cause to many problems with rebels because of the ammo. If you can change them to other games that will work well. Also the totem pole pound will probably have to be adjusted to account for the big hit speed difference between scouts and heavys
 
+1, I am new to skial jb, but this map has had much success on other servers, and I believe this would be a good addition to the server.
 
Has a mapper looked at this yet? That is one element that I could no justify in my suggestion because I do not know how to do it.

It's being looked into, we don't want to add it if there are issues.
 
Right - @Pedro the fabulous and I have looked over the map.
We not going to be accepting it at this time, for a few reasons:
  1. No health available in the armory
  2. Random potential for death in medic

  3. Would have to remove server branding
  4. Cells are a vastly different concept from other maps
    1. Essentially breaks 99% of peoples orders
    2. You spawn in crates, then have to get in cells
      1. "Cells" are cyclindrical, would cause issues
  5. Games are overly confusing and completely unintuitive
  6. Games are different from anything seen anywhere else
    1. This means new learning curve for players to understand
    2. This means more work for admins, or Wardens to explain
    3. This means more rules would be needed (many more).
  7. Few good games, but these could be used in other maps
  8. Armory way too easy to break into (two hits)
This means that there are many map edits needed... it isn't worth the time.
We need more maps, yes - absolutely yes, but this isn't suitable.

You should try adapting your map to some of those suggestions, it will be useful for other servers as well as ours. Especially the Health Kits in armory, those are an essential for every server.

Apart from that, good job keep it up!

If I were to get permission from the creator to adapt the map, is there anyone that is willing to undertake the task of doing it? (I don't want to ask unless I am certain that it will be attempted)

We don't really need permission to adapt the map - but we're not going to do that work.

The number of modifications needed to this map would make this task very time consuming.
 
This map looks very well done graphically. Shouldn't it be usable as a jailbreak map? It looks like it was specifically ported to TF2. Did they not fix everything up to make it usable?

I think the biggest issue @Luke and @Pedro the fabulous was hinting at was that jb has specific requirements (such as a working medic, better cells, and minigames that have to relate to the rules), and the work that would be needed on the map is not worth the outcome. Correct me if I am wrong.
 
The game ideas are great, but it feels like the port wasn't very well done and isn't exactly well balanced for rebels / guards so it would require a lot of work. I'll personally try and work on it if people really want the map, but I don't think it's going to do well on the server in the state it is right now.

It's a very nice map graphically, but due to the scale of it - it's a lot of work for us to use it.
I believe the main issue is that there are so many new games, which Pedro and I tried together.
We looked from the point of view of people playing on the map for the first time, it isn't beginner friendly - at all.
Some of the games are good and don't require too much explanation, but this is the minority of minigames.

Furthermore, it also breaks the entire existing known concept of "cells".
For example, our rules state many things to do with cells, such as:
RED Team, or "Prisoners"
Players will become a Prisoner if they are not selected to be a Guard. After spawning, Prisoners will start in a cell with no ammo, once cell doors open you are expected to follow the orders of the warden - or you may rebel and try kill the guards… for more information, see the “RED Team” section below.

"Prisoners will start in a cell" - not true on this map, you start in a box, which the Guards can then break the bottom of.
"once cell doors open" - there are no cell doors, the cells are cylindrical* and Prisoners must be ordered into them.
*this means they also have no "left", "right", "back" or "front" - breaking all "AFK in cells, face and hug back wall" orders.

Do not leave, or attempt to leave your cell before 7:30, unless the Warden has given an order to do so

You do not start in a cell, you must go to a cell - which means these rules would have to change.

Even if everyone knew the games, it would still require an edit before you upload it onto the servers.
There are numerous third-party references throughout the maps (large decal advertising other servers).
