I saw this interesting idea on the Xenforo Resources forum, it is also used on the VigilanteGamers forum. Essentially it's just a simple mood icon pack and I figured that it would be a pretty cool edition to the Skial forum.

It would look something along the lines of this (Example taken from another forum):
Screen_Shot_2016_12_21_at_9_09_53_PM.png

If the user doesn't want any mood displayed then the space will just remain blank.

PS: There are other mood icon packs out there but I chose the one which I thought was best in my opinion.

The thing is that ratings have a purpose.
If I find your post interesting, I'll throw an "neat" or "informative" at it.
If I find your post stupid, then you get a "dumb" or "disagree", or "confusing" etc.

But this is a single mood across the entire forum and looking at the list - I don't get it.
Maybe I'm just not understanding the point, but:

  1. Why would someone feel the need to set their mood to "Horny" or "Haunting"
Why would anyone else care about majority of those moods
I understand that in some instances, it could be interesting - like if you were ill for instance.
But again, do we really need to know? I have a feeling that it will be just used as a kind of forum signature.
It contributes nothing to the majority of the forum and has no real meaning.

Plus, as above pointed out - many will probably just set theirs as a constant joke... "Horny", "Killer" or "Kick Ass".
I might just not be understanding the point though. Why would this information improve the forum?

The reason we have ratings is because Bottiger wanted to reduce forum clutter. I.E if someone agrees with your post, they can rate it agree instead of posting a reply that just says agree.

With this, it wouldn't really add anything. We have status updates if we want to update people on our lives, and they aren't really aesthetically pleasuring to be honest with you. Just seems unnecessary (but that's just my opinion). -1

Well I never stated it was necessary for the forum, I'll just quickly restate the point I made before. You guys have a plugin which gives cosmetics to bots, it is completely unnecessary for the gameplay and took time to set up, however it looks nice and enhances the gameplay. Some people may not like it but others do (or they don't care). Same with this Xenforo addon, it is purely aesthetic and if you don't want it you are not forced to use it whatsoever, but for those who do want it they can use it however they want.

its a nice fun suggestion, but it does seem a bit pointless and kinda cluttery, but then again there is an alien one and i want it

Bots in-game look like players, they do not take up more space or add further clutter. Your suggestion takes up space, therefore it needs to be justified and given enough of a reason why it would improve the forum.

All of the mood mods for xenforo look hideous, however the one you picked is slightly less of an ungodly eyesore. I'm not much of a fan, sorry. -1

I think they look cheap and nasty -1

FYI this is a pack of mood icons. I am suggesting the idea itself and this is just the pack I chose to illustrate my example and is the best (out of the choices available). As I stated before if the Skial community likes the idea but not the icons then we could create our own pack and replace the icons.

I just thought it'd be nice to add that the default mood is a blank tag that says "no mood" so you're not forced to have something you don't like but I really do think we should give the newcomers more to explore, no matter how little. I don't think people will leave the forums by having these and more people will stay on the forums if there's more to do.
