I want to report a case of bullying, stalking and unnecessary mute ban against myself by “oddj”, SteamID: U:1:49509791 / http://steamcommunity.com/id/iamlol. This has been taking place for a few months now. The mute ban took place on Saturday, June 25, starting around 5AM on the following server:

The following 2 players were also involved. They either know “oddj”, are his clan members, or joined in just for kicks:

Long story short, I've been playing TF2 on your server for a while now. In that time, I've made a few good friends and have had a lot of fun. I always try to play fair [answer questions, join the lesser skilled team when they're overwhelmed, go Medic, fill in player/class gaps, etc.] and am friendly.

“oddj”, on the other hand, is the opposite. He is a negative person and an instigator. Every time we're in the same server, he goes out of his way to incite and start arguments with as many players as possible. Most of the time he leaves after aggravating enough people. Some examples of the hostile behavior “oddj” has exhibited:

• abusive towards younger, newer players
• using profanity when younger players/kids are obviously in the room
• accusing anyone who kills him as “hacking”
• making offensive sexual, political and religious comments
• creating fake logs accounts of things I/others have supposedly said
• vote menu abuse
• general chat spamming
• constantly announcing his kills
• taunts after every kill
• random name calling

On this particular occasion, he attempted several times to mute me and others through the !votemenu process. After a few failed attempts, the “yes” votes won and I was silenced for no good reason for 30 minutes. In that time, I refused to be bullied into leaving, took the insults and observed how he and the 2 others mentioned, harassed most others in the game.

After the vote, several people made it known that they didn't really know what the vote entailed and only said “yes” to make the GUI pop-up for it go away. After the 30 minute ban expired, “oddj” tried several other times to reinstate it, but failed. This is the typical attitude for this person and has been targeted at me for several months.

For my part, I have tried to ignore him, but he refuses to play by the rules. I have, of course, defend myself against his verbal attacks, since “oddj” has done this one too many times. Enough is enough. Plain and simple, this guy is a bully.

Other players, as well as myself, wanted to report him during this latest incident, but a mix of them being younger players, us not knowing the reporting process, etc., stopped that from happening.

Since the matter, I have been researching your website to learn how to collect evidence with chat logs, screenshots, console menu options, etc., when this kind of situation arises. I did not know much about the process beforehand because there's never been a need for it in my experience. If there's a way to go back and look at the logs of our exchanges, it would show how he instigated it every time.

There are server chatlogs from that time, and you weren't spamming via text, but it isn't certain if you were or weren't spamming via voice.

You should record a demo next time you play a game with oddj in case he abuses votemenu again.
To make it easy, you can copy and paste this into console:

bind "[" "record report; status; voice_loopback 1"; bind "]" "stop demo"

Hit your [ key when you play with him, and ] will end the recording when you're finished.
Hitting the [ key again will overwrite it, so you can re-use this if nothing happens for a while, or for future reports.
The demo will be in Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf if you're on Windows.

Like I mentioned, I realized afterwards that evidence is needed, which makes sense. Else anybody can claim anything. Having said that, never needed to report anyone before "oddj", so didn't know the ins/outs. Also saw in my research, as you're saying, that everything is recorded on Skial servers, which is fantastic. I think more servers should do this. Anyways, I understand the limitations, hence no voice chat logs, etc. It does show there that he initiated the mute ban several times, though, correct?

For what it's worth, 99.9% of the time I never voice chat and have never used it against "oddj".

Yes. Unless someone else comes forward with a report and proof, or an admin catches him doing it.
