Being repeatedly airblasted and flaregunned is 10x worse than w+m1. It took about the same amount of skill (just aim a projectile with a 50 ft hitbox) and was way more effective. w+m1 is kind of how the game was meant to be played, at least for pyro. The original intent was to shotgun when out of range and flamethrower when in range. It may not take too much skill, but it is not super rewarding that way.

a w+m1 pyro will maybe get 1 or 2 kills when playing good players, if that, where as a flaregun/degreaser player can kill 125 hp classes pretty much instantly.

So many classes can (sorta) instakill. Pyro could too. However most classes have the opportunity to instakill when in close range (or long range depending on your weapon and class), but with pyro you're locked in close combat. This has now been kinda taken away as the pyro is now forced to just walk up to the enemy and hope they don't mow you down first, like quite some classes can.
Why wouldn't you take it away from the other classes when you do take it away from the pyro.

This has now been kinda taken away as the pyro is now forced to just walk up to the enemy and hope they don't mow you down first, like quite some classes can.
Why wouldn't you take it away from the other classes when you do take it away from the pyro.
Pre-axtinguisher nerf pyro was a fucking machine. Like I'm saying you just puff and sting with the degreaser and there goes ~6 guys in like twenty seconds. That is totally overpowered, because there is little to no way you can counter that.

With a sniper you can see his dot or just stay out of his way, spy you just need to be aware. There go the two other classes that can instakill.

Pyro was meant to be a class like heavy, where ambushes were the prime way to deal with things and when you weren't in range you had your reflect to deal with projectiles and shit. I used to just run into people, light them up and then axe them. That's not fair or fun in any way, because really the only class you couldn't do that to was the Heavy

That's the same as other classes that could insta kill low or even medium hp classes like scout, demo, soldier and heavy. You just had to be careful just like with the spy, and uhm the other 5 classes
Only around corners were pyro's very dangerous, like the others, but unlike those pyro is very vulnerable in open spaces

At least with the puff and sting, you had to aim the flare and the reflect was a thing too. All of it improved a player's reading and timing capabilities. The phlog just bests that by doing what? Taunting. Glad you guys think there's skill to that.

It definitely doesn't, you have to understand rocket timing and blast radius (point blank removes that but the case isn't different for the phlog), it's not hard to understand taunting, you just press a key.

You don't have to understand any of that shit to succeed as a Soldier lol

At least with Phlog Pyro you have to get close to the enemy to actually do something, when Soldier is effective in almost every situation.
 
You guys are arguing over pyro vs soldier when literally the easiest class in the game (sniper) is yet to be nerfed.

All you have to do is click on heads and not get backstabbed and you win.

And they're not gonna put in the effort to fix the hitboxes so nerfing him won't do much good.
