I've played a lot of hours on TF2, especially on Skial servers and in that time I can only think of !voteban working once.

Normally, legit votes get around 70%-75%. Even when there's an obvious hacker you still get some people voting no (usually from people on the same team as the hacker). Nonetheless, 90% is far too high even legitimate situations.

From experience, troll votes usually get about 50%-60% so 80% would still be high enough.

I'd like to see !voteban become useful again, sometimes admins simply aren't around.

This suggestion has been closed. Votes are no longer accepted.
The problem is Skial used to be called "The home of votemenu abuse", this is why the percentage is so high. I will take a look at your report though.

Lowering the required votes always brings the danger of false positives. But I get your point because before I was an admin I saw that happen too and I doubt it changed so far.
I can't really say wether bringing it down to 80% is a good idea or not. It is still high enough so it could be given the chance.

Yet you say "normally legit votes get around 70-75%" which would mean your suggestion of 80% would still not be enough, right?

I disagree, they should not reduce. Yesterday I nearly got vote muted for "racism" after someone said "Jessica are you being racist?" cause I said I didn't like the Demoman class. the vote failed by just a few votes, so yeah..

If there is a hacker please record his game play and report him here so he gets perm ban, a 30 minute ban is nothing to a hacker - they'll just come back in 30 minutes and do it again.

The 30 minute ban would assure for the players to be able to keep playing in peace because admins are not around all the time. Try to understand it from that point. Of course, there still needs to be a report about the incident.

I had two false votes called on me yesterday, one for impersonating and one for griefing I think, neither of which was true. The vote barely did not pass, and I don't want other false votes to pass.

Even at 90% there's still the occasional player who comes to me or other admins with evidence of vote abuse so saying troll votes only get ~50% support all of the time is laughable.

Maybe if we devised a way of preventing vote abuse we could do this. Like requiring players to specifically type in a reason like a sentence's worth of why think the vote would be "valid." I don't know if a plugin can manage that. Now that was just an example.

I kind of want this to go through because despite the fact that we get false vote starts we also get a lot of actual vote starts, to which some people don't respond to or deliberately vote "no," to continue havoc. Maybe if we built a functioning punishment system for voteabusers we could manage more.

Maybe even keeping a message in the votemenu like "Beware, that if you use this vote without skial rule jurisdiction, you will be subject to mute/gag," might scare a majority of people from making false votes.

I'm just exploring ideas here, I don't know if it would be yet full-proof.

Unfortuantly this type of plugin doesn't exist, AI isn't this good yet.

If you really have a good valid reason and need someone banned, just type !report, there's usually always an admin online to view it after a few minutes.
