Hello there,

First Off. I'd like to know why so many vsh maps have been taken out of the Nominate List.

Its getting quite boring to play the same map Over and over. Here is an Example: If there is Rats, Toys or Military Area on the Map voting menu. Its a 99% chance those maps are going to be next. Which is seriously annoying if you play them again over and over. It changes like: Rats to Toys, Toys to Military, Military to Rats and so on.

I would agreee would be great to see new maps on there i assume the others got removed due to bugs or lack of people voting for them you can try the !nominate command to see if they are there
 
Map one I liked, so +1 for that.

Map two from what I remember was not really popular. -1

Map three was one of the worst hale maps. Mario cart was a map that drowned out forever because its way too open to play on, its easy for everyone hide or get away from hale. I'm glad it was removed, big -1.

Map four was ok, dont know why it was removed but +1 anyway.

Map five was also kinda shit and unpopular, -1 for that one.

And six from what I remember (long ago) this map was also a big and annoying one for hale to play on and I remember alot of people on the server complaining about map lag at times.


Can't say id care for all these maps to come back, problem is we have tons of saxton hale maps, and if the same map gets picked over and over, why add more when we already have tons of maps that are already not really played as it is. that already don't get played. Adding them back won't really make a difference sense it seems most of the community chose what it wants to play on.

Bottiger from what I've personally seen removes maps primarily for a couple of reasons:
- The player count drops significantly on the maps in question
- The maps aren't popular

Bottiger keeps an eye on the server statistics and statistics don't lie. If a map is causing people to leave the server and / or if its underplayed, then its not a popular map which he'll likely remove and for good reason.

If he kept any old maps in the rotation to let the players decide what gets played...that would likely mean the server emptying out more frequently because people vote unpopular maps causing players to leave.

Less players means VSH is more likely to go bye-bye one day without notice because it no longer provides worthwhile server traffic that justifies paying for the server. That's what happens to servers that start failing to gain any worthwhile traffic, they get recycled into other servers that will fill better. If you want VSH to stay, asking for unpopular and underplayed maps to be re-added isn't a good way to help retain the server's lifespan.

I dont remember any Player Drops when those maps came. Some people were happy for those maps. Even if it was Big or Not big.

I played alot of VSH when those maps wer around. They did become unpopular one point, sometimes servers would die off just because of one of the old maps. I know mario cart was a big one, the server would go to 28ish players to 14 - 15 real fast.

I'm playing Hale 3 or 4 Years now. And as far as I remember everyone likes Mariokart. It was a Surely high played map. It was often voted and many people played on it. Sure you can escape fast but you could also take away some easy escape spots. And hiding wouldnt be a big problem since you can read the Chat and many people want new rounds so they would Ghost for hale.

I came back to VSH a bit ago, it seems everyone's keen on playing the same 3 - 4 maps and happily doing it. I don't see adding more really gunna change much at this point. If they are removed its for a reason, not because botty felt like it for the shits and giggles. And I don't really see people flocking here in huge amounts to bring them back, one or two people asking for them back won't bring them back.

Also, everyone liked mario kart because it was fun to run from hale, and it was really easy to kill him.

Your basing your sole opinion against raw server statistics. I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but the flaws in your argument should be very, very obvious at this point.

Bottiger doesn't remove maps just because he feels like it. He removes maps when they become detrimental to the server.

SHUT UP MEOW I DISAGREE WITH NO REAL ARGUMENT.

Lmao no Mario Kart was not popular. I played on the VSH server for a long ass time and I can't remember a time that people actually wanted to play on Mario Kart. Most of the time everyone would bitch about the map.
 
We scan every single tf2 server and record the average number of players, ratio of players/slot and times the map has been seen. Basically a private version of tfstats.net that is actually working.

This allows us to see which maps are actually popular and which aren't.

I don't check the list all the time, but the maps that you are all suggesting are not popular at all and some people seem to have a bias towards particular maps that no one else likes.

There are also more maps than rats, military, or toys. If people don't want to play the other ones then why should we stop them? We already block the last 2 maps from being repicked.
