Is the sing ledge canceled or something? There is no way you're comboing rest from sing.

That won't happen. Even if they didn't know mashing works mashing is still just a natural reaction.

I was thinking up tilt>rest since it has worked wonders for me but crouch>rest is fine too.

correct me if im wrong, but i dont think jigg's tilts have enough hitstun for that to be a guaranteed rest.

It doesn't but combos don't have to be guaranteed to be combos. While some people define combos as a sequence of attacks that are guaranteed to land after the first hit, I personally don't like this definition for Smash since you have cases where attacks are close enough to where it is possible to escape with a tech or DI but the window for doing so is so small that it likely won't happen even at a competitive level.

That damage seems like it's coming more from the virus debuff than the monster itself.

the virus debuff doesn't do any more damage to the hunter, it just takes away natural recovery, and that's only when the virus is fully incubated, in this case it was not.
