Welcome and Happy Holidays! With Christmas quickly approaching and having had three successful previous years of Secret Santa

This year I will host and organize this event. The way you will give and receive your gifts will be through yours truly. You will hand me your gift by the deadline and you will be able to choose when to receive your gift once all gifts are submitted.

Deadline to Sign up is Sunday November 30th
Partners will be sent out on Wendesday December 3rd

Rules
  • Notice: All items will be valued based on the lowest range of the set price you can check on BACKPACK.TF. Example: An item valued between 1.66-2.33 would count as 1.66refined.

  • You must verify that you are still participating on dates that I will assign until you have submitted your gifts. This is more for me to keep this event running smoothly and to create problems to a minimum. The dates of which I will message you to make sure you are still a participant of this event will be on: Friday December 5th, Monday December 8th, Friday December 12, Monday December 15 and finally Wednesday December 19th. If you fail to respond to these inboxes, are not able to be contacted in other ways (steam) and you do not show that you are attempting to get your gift ready, you will be removed from this event and the gift you would receive will go to the person you were assigned to. Once you submit your gift you will no longer be inboxed, so save yourself the trouble and submit earlier than later.

  • Gifts outside of TF2 such as games and items for other games are acceptable however it must still be atleast the set value. If it's in-game item(s) of a different game other than TF2, your assigned person must own a copy of the game with over 250 hours.

  • You must have a minimum of 150 posts and 3 months on Skial Forums to participate in this event unless I specify otherwise.

  • Metal will not be allowed to "pad" the gift value. If you choose to give metal, the metal will be used to exceed the minimum, not to reach it. Example. If the minimal value would be 2 refined, you would not be able to give a craft hat of 1.33ref value and add a refined. However if you had a craft hat worth 2 ref and you choose to add ref you are more than able to.

  • You will NOT receive a gift if have failed to meet the requirements of a gift you are supposed to give. Your gift will go to the person you failed to gift

Edit: Within an hour I got about 20 people interested so I will begin to set preliminary dates for official due dates and such.

Stuff to think about/expect to be brought up for suggestions

  • Method of Communication!!! This one is big. Do you want a general group chat for all participants or just leave it on this thread alone?
  • Gift price range
  • Dates (when are gifts due when are gifts to be given out)
  • methods of receiving/giving gifts
  • method of deciding partners(random/pseudo-random)

I would absolutely love to do this again. I have so much TF2 items I don't need and would love to gift to one of these guys.

I'm ok with like 5/6 ref min rather than last year's 3 but let's take key values off the table because those fuckers jump in price faster than any normal player can accumulate the ref to buy one.
 
I would love to take part, as I JUST MISSED last years secret Santa when I joined.
I think 10 ref - 1 key value is pretty A-OK.

i think you'll be fine danhack there were no problems last year
 
I want to participate but gave all my TF2 stuff away, would there be a way where I could do CS:GO stuff if the person I get matched up with has CS:GO? Or should I just sell the stuff on the market to get TF2 items for this?

I would be if i had anything to give away, gave away all my shit when I 'died' a year or so ago. I ain't got jack shit anymore. But good luck to those that do, Hope everyone has a fun Secret Santa thing.

Yeah, an issue I had last year was talking with participants on certain issues so I will make a group chat with all participants which I can update as well as the thread. Since I have not played TF2 in a while one thing I will need an overall approval on is the price range of the gift and the site that will be used to decide what is the price of it. I'll make clear what price I feel is the best after consulting with the participants.

A big issue I faced last year was the whole gift fixing scenario, in which people feared it being unfair as I would fix gifts for people I was friends with. I have no problem with randomizing it again this year and making small adjustments based on game preferences if and only if it is deemed acceptable by those who participate. I will probably do the same rules as last time. If it is a gift of items of a game other than TF2 they must own the game and I'll add a minimun play time of 250 hours (subject to change).
Edit: as of now it will be the same as last year 100% randomized

Personally what I would do it I was you, would be to have a gift ready in CS:GO items and if your partner doesn't play CS:GO then try to get TF2 items or come talk to me and I can work out something with you.

Last year there was no middleman and I held all the items on my alt account. If this year people would decide they want to use a middleman, it will most likely be Faron.

i'd totally be in & willing to help you in any planning you may need! i have a shitton of tf2 stuff that's rotting because i'm too sick to play lately.
