I have, and yet I still don't find the answer. I help a friend run his own server and we use /ban

With the new update valve introduced, there is now a small piece you have to add to this in order for the command to work. I'm sure a little research will get it figured out.

I don't know if we want someone with this much trouble just getting the ban command right to admin the servers.

In-game I just use !ban *their name* *time* *reason*. I've never been asked to ban my own STEAMID before....

To be completely fair the UserID system was introduced extraordinarily recently. And memorizing the SourceMod ban commands is not exactly something people do everyday. I find solace in his willingness to research and admit failures/mistakes and take them in stride. However his activity concerns me.

As far as I know banning by name also works however this is unreliable with untypable or other exploity names. Therefore making UserID's much safer

Okay, I'm going to hold my hands up high and admit that I may not have the grasp of the new Steam User Account ban system, but I definately have the experience and maturity that can bring my Admin quality to 10. I've been on holiday recently, and now that I'm back I can be on Skial every day (that's why I havent had much gametime recently).

If I was to be given a chance to show you my true abilities, you would not regret it.

I thought non-admins weren't allowed to judge an applicant's ban command.

+0 from me, seeing as you possibly have something to add to the admin beyond just the typical duties. Best of luck with everything!

Edit: Thanks, non-admin I've never heard of, for disagreeing with me. That really cleared things up.
