The votemenu is to punish people breaking our rules without involving an admin. Just client mute someone if they're being annoying. I don't see what is so difficult about that. We make it clear in our guidelines that the vote menu is not to be used for personal stuff like this.

I don't understand why players are punished for using the votemenu system the way it was intended. If a vote is made for the reason of "spam", which is subjective, it is up to the majority vote of the server to determine whether or not it is actually spam. If the vote passes, which it did three times (one of which was 100%), is it really so hard to believe that the majority of the server actually doesn't want to hear it? If an admin can silence somebody on idle for mic spam at their discretion, why can't an entire server silence somebody for just 30 minutes if they're being annoying?

It's abuse of the vote menu if you use the menu to silence/ban someone when they do not break one of our rules. If a player annoys you that is your problem and the simple solution is to client mute them. It is subjective if a player is annoying but just because they are younger does not mean you can vote silence them. It is not a toy to be used lightly.

Our definition of micspamming falls under playing music over the microphone or people screaming incoherently into the mic. It's not fair for someone to get arbitrarily silenced for 30 mins over the sound of their own voice which they cannot control. That's why we enforce against it.

If people were able to vote-mute someone because they think that one person is annoying, I am pretty sure there would be a vote every single time someone uses their mic. ANYONE can say that someone is annoying, and as stated before is it really that hard to client mute the certain individual. I know you said you don't like doing that because when they stop being annoying you would like to hear them but if they were being annoying why would you even want to hear them at all?

I'm just giving my two cents. I know that you're only supposed to use it if somebody breaks the rules, but the whole point of this thread is to change said rules (bump the limits). If a votemute is made for spam and the server thinks they're spamming, what's 30 minutes?

You would be surprised. The whole point of a majority vote is so that doesn't happen, the probability of said person being a friend of enough people on the server to sway the vote is usually pretty high. Not every kid gets votemuted on (and no that's not because of the votemute rule, trust me.)

Agh! I'm too lazy to ... press esc and client mute. MMMPHT.
Oh f*** it, let's just raise the votemenu rate.

Ok, I can understand the kid having an annoying voice but we asked him to lighten up on the voice chat and he wouldn't. He uses it over and over and over again for no real reason. I can easily say it's as annoying as screaming. And I'm not saying that we should make it super high limits but if it's close to 100% yeses than it's not abuse.
We may sound like a broken record, but we will say it again: Client mute them!

I strongly disagree. if someone WAS a squeaker and you kept voting them to be muted and it failed to go through, I wouldn't mind that timer. how would YOU feel if you were a squeaker and you got voted to be muted?

If an admin unmuted him and banned someone calling a vote on him than that means he isn't crossing the line into mic spam territory.

I've been having to deal with this all night so my patience is wearing thin, so I'll just get straight to the point. It doesn't matter if you feel its justified. We (admins) consider any form of vote being called against someone who is not breaking the rules to be vote abuse.

Is the kid annoying? Yes, but thats not against our rules at all. I've been listening to him for the past 2 hours and he's never done anything that borders onto what I would consider micspam.

And to be frank, with what you said in this thread you confirmed my earlier suspicions that you were vote abusing the kid.

The rules are fine as they are and there is no need to be softer on vote abuse, especially when you and the others were silencing a kid on the basis of being annoying.

Even if the whole server does agree with the votemute, that is still no justification for silencing someone who wasnt mic spamming or breaking the rules in any way. It doesn't matter if they're the biggest doiche on the face of the earth or some little kid who's being annoying, everyone gets fair treatment from the server rules.
