some gems from the comments:This made me laugh:

This is coming from the same guys who dishonored the Mario and Zelda franchises by making games for them without Nintendo's consent because of a loophole from the SNES CD project.
Since philips haven't really done anything else since 1990 they decided - "Hey, what if we sued Nintendo over this patents we got here? They use a stylus after all!"
says the guys who made nintendo games without nintendo's consent because of a legal loophole.
Damn Philips how long ago did the wii come out, and you are just now wanting to do something about it?
lol this is just a cash grab from a company no one cares about. With that first patent, sounds like the kenect as well. Wanna take on MS too Philips? And the input featuring a pointing device? you mean a stylis? If so might as well sue ever touchscreen focused devices. Wanna take on Apple Philips? lol this is such BS Nintendo's safe with this one xD
Nintendo should counter-sue them for disgracing Mario and Zelda franchises on the Phillips CD-i.
"The first bit of code can mirror a user's real-life actions inside a game,". erm, sorry, doesn't this describe Kinect? Or Move on PS3? Jog on you greedy bastards Philips!!! That patent would involve suing hundreds of organisations now there are so many pieces of hardware that use motion control with and without a pointer. I sniff an agenda!! The same month Mario Kart 8 is released!! Coincidence?
This reminds me of Nathan Fielder's "Dumb Starbucks" business campaign that points out just how broken copyright laws are.
would've been funny if the flooding actually set off the landmines
I just read about that earlier today, I feel so bad for those people
