Tie in TF2 Donor status with the website

We have a host of perks in tf2 for donating, why not make some for the website as well?
aka: An extension of the tf2 benefits package to have some benefits on the website, too.

Some ideas could include: (These are just sample ideas)
* The obvious, a banner under the username.
* Revamp the current Contributor forum and make it accessible only if you have donor status.
* Extended signature limits, one more image, etc.
* Auto-bumping of trade threads
* suggest more ideas

I know there is currently a contributor tag right now, I am saying to create a tag \ benefits that expire once the donor status expires. The contributor tag and its benefits are permanent.

"Donor" means you donated, being a "donor" does not go away after a certain amount of time. Same with "Contributor", you still contributed.

Semantics. Call it premium then, or whatever. I was suggesting the concept of tieing in donor/contributor/premium status with the website. The actual name of it doesn't matter terribly much.

What would being a premium do?
People having to have active donor would make it even more dead than the contrib forum, and what's the point? I don't think a person would keep on donating for the same benefits just to have a premium tag.

I don't think you're grasping it. This is an extension of the current tf2 benefits, not a separate purchase.

So you're just saying you want people to have an active donation running to have a contrib tag and to view the contrib forum?
Seems pretty pointless. Have a contrib tag and seeing the contrib forum isn't going to keep me donating.
There are only like 2 threads worth seeing in the contrib forum anyway, and this would just make it even more dead.

That was just a sample pool of ideas. It doesn't have to be a donor-only forum, etc. The benefits could be different, the main point is it would be an extension of the current donor package.

As a current contributor, I'd want some real benefits like you described in your third point. A special forum won't make me do it more, and we already have a Contributor tag.
So, the siglimits, more pictures, etc would be the benefits that are attractive to me.(Or, dare I say, that custom forum title that has been oft suggested yet always denied? Hope springs eternal.)
 
All of these ideas are terrible. I haven't even seen the contributor forum but I can only guess that it's nothing groundbreaking to clamor over.

Yeah maybe more links in the signature, more images, etc. If you can think of any ideas, that would be great. Having some solid ones would give this traction, I think.

A custom title won't happen just because none of the staff want that responsibility and letting people choose their own would be a nightmare.
I believe it is possible to blacklist certain words, but I may be wrong. I think blacklisting + letting people choose their own would be the best, and then banning the few who misuse it. But I think it's been suggested and shot down before, so.
 
Hmm, giving special forum perks isn't such a bad idea. You could change the banner style a bit, change the text color etc. Extended sig limits may be an issue though. Also, a custom title may be a possibility but would require additional forum staff to help moderate the titles (or change the titles if they go by request rather than through the profile settings page). There may be some useful xf plugins out there for titles though I haven't really looked.

I don't think that'd be a very good idea. I'd say enable some features as long as you're currently a donor but keep access to the forum permanently.
