While in general true ("Since 387 BC, France has fought 168 major wars ... They've won 109, lost 49 and drawn ... 10 times"), I lol'd at some obvious bullshit in this article...
And while it is true that France surrendered to Germany relatively early in WWII, that was only because they hadn't picked themselves up after WWI yet. And WWI (despite being an entire "I" lower) wasn't exactly an anemic playground chickenfight--the French suffered about 5.7 million casualties
Bullshit. Total French casualties in WW1 were 1.7 million people. British Empire suffered 1.3 millions in casualties, while Russian Empire suffered 3.7 million people. Nevertheless Russia and Great Britain kept fighting in WWII even though they lost the same and even more people in a previous war.
So yes, the next time around they let the Germans take over officially, but they never actually stopped fighting: the French resistance was one of the most enduring symbols of Nazi opposition
Bullshit. French resistance was one of the most passive resistances in Europe. It became active only when Germans were retreating.

I think they are referring to the underground resistance, which was active throughout German occupation.

Yeah I seen this yesterday...I think it puts out the wrong message. I understand the 0 tolerance policy but a friend asked her to pick her up so she didn't drive or get in with a drunk driver. The police even verified that all she did was show up to pick up a friend. It will make others think it is not worth saving a life to stay out of trouble.

damn schools and their inability to see things in a positive way.
My mother is a French teacher, she's very strict and scares the fuck out of students while keeping a playful style and maintaining a good learning environment.
She has no pity and will tell the kids down if they start acting lazy/annoying, other teachers don't understand how her students learn so much and act so respectfully, that's something I feel is awfully wrong with the U.S education system. The child is king, you have little sluts doing nothing in class because they're in the cheerleading team and boys in the football teams, they do nothing because teachers don't give a fuck and would rather let the child do as he wants rather than being strict

I have had two teachers that I enjoyed their class more because of their styles similar to the one you described above. They are fun and cool but at the same time keep learning as something they want to be #1 in the classrooms.

The benefits of being strict but maintaining a cool style is that your students will like your class, and have more of an attention span while in class. If they start to fool around and not want to pay attention, they the teachers strictness kicks in the students usually settle down since they like their teacher. And teachers like this get kids to learn more which increases their grades in the class.

Though, I try hard in school, I do joke around :\

I just think those are usually the teachers that are better liked and have kids with better grades. Those teachers who just review things and give you homework and that you don't get along with usually don't have that many good grade students.
