I'm getting some slight blurry / fuzzy graphics in TF2 that start up and then stop randomly. Not sure what's causing it. Sometimes just my character is slightly blurry and everything else is fine, sometimes its generally everything.

It's a faint blurryness but still clearly visible. I'll try to post some screenshots when it starts happening again

Anyone know any possible causes / fixes?

My video card is a GeForce 8800M GTS

My GPU tempature has never been going past 55C (from what I've heard about 90 - 100c is considered the danger zone) and my processor never breaks 158F (185F being the max it can take) so I don't think it's overheating issues.

I haven't been having any other artifacting problems that I know of.

What are your video settings?

Do you play with FPS configs, things like that. And yes, screenshots would be helpful to understand what is going on. :)

No FPS configs or any custom configs for that matter. None of my settings have changed since I installed TF2 awhile back.

I'm still trying to get some screenshots but it doesn't seem to want to act up. It may take a bit before I can get some

Why is your FOV at 70? That's sickening. And get a config. Skill>Looks.

Got some screenshots (Edit - updated the screenshots with higher quality ones to avoid imgur's shitty compression system)

They're big so I'm gonna spoiler them

Compare those to this:

normal%201.png

It's very faint but if you compare the scouts in game to the scout in my loadout selection you can see the red scout is a bit less 'blurry'

And I'm positive it's not just the lighting or higher quality characters being rendered in the load out menu - my mercs goes from blurry, back to normal, and back to being blurry again every so often in game.

This is also happening to certain maps too. Oddly enough all other mercenaries on the map seem to be unaffected, its only occasionally happening to my surroundings and what ever mercenary I'm playing as

These are not bad at all. Get a config or deal. Honestly, TF2 is better when there's no view models, sprays, eyeballs and people complaining that their graphics are fucked up.

My graphics have always been fine up until now so I'm gonna keep them as is

Thanks for the suggestion though

I get less FPS when using maxfpsconfigs in DX8 than I do with dx9frames in DX9.

I heard a rumor that you have to roll-back your video card drivers to use DX8 effectively. How would one go by doing this?

Shh... no tears. The human eye can only see 35 fps. I know I'm a scientist, majoring in science.

you sure? I can tell when my game dips below 60 pretty noticeably. It just doesn't seem smooth at all at 35 :l

According to multiple sources by doing a quick google search humans can perceive well over 60 FPS.

If we could only perceive 35 fps then there would be no noticeable difference from 30 to 60+ FPS

The 30 FPS thing seems to be a popular misconception made a very long ass time ago

also to follow up on that.

if we could only see up to 60 FPS clearly, then why make monitors that can refresh about 120 FPS?
Oh, I can only imagine how smooth that would look.

It's fast, and sometimes looks weird.
