emulation problem

Since figured out how to emulate pokemon in my computer i have been enjoying it since but there is a problem when i try to go fourth gen and use a ds emulator, the game begins at a normal pace but then slows down untill it takes about two whole seconds to hear one Doot in the background music, and it's really irritating because i really want to play that could anyone help me with this problem

if it helps i am using the DeSmuMe emulator

hmm i changed it to open GL and it stopped slowing down
i have no idea what any of them did but that fixed it so i i wont do anything until this happens again
