I got the idea from this thread.

I've seen way too many obscene sprays, like gay porn with feces and shit like that. Honestly, why should any of us have to look at that type of stuff? Do we gain anything from it? No, it just ruins our day. Everytime I walk past a picture of a dude jizzing on himself, it makes me want to hurl.

I think a defining line can be drawn between porn, and shock sprays.

Point is, how long are you going to stare at a spray, especially one you find objectionable? The object of the game is to crit or be crit, not have a staring contest with the wall.

I guess everyone here has a good point they made. I might as well accept that sprays like this will always exist. Wasn't exactly a good idea to start out with, anyways.

Sorry if this reply seems a bit snobby.

@OP: As stated previously, if you can't handle the sprays, disable them. If they're illegal, report them.

I usually play with sprays off, but when I have them on I really don't get bothered or I just turn away. It's not like the user is forcing you to go to a site with a bunch of porn and you can't off of it.

What I'm thinking about is this. Lets say you disable the sprays, right? You are officially tried of the nasty porn sprays. then here comes Lord Scrammbles and he sprays some illegal spray of a 10 year old girl or something. How are you suppose to report that if you can't see it?

edit: This is YOU. not someone else reporting it cause what you guys are saying is that if you don't like it, disable the sprays. well what if everyone had it like that.

If you cannot see a spray, does it still exist?

..No, but seriously. Someone else will then report the spray. There isn't many that actually disable sprays in the first place, so someone will always report illegal sprays sooner or later.

too bad Valve can't implement a "block sprays from the following players" feature. what also sucks is that all sprays displayed are downloaded to TF2's temp folder so if someone sprays something illegal, every player with sprays enabled could potentially get into trouble with law enforcement

It's too hard to draw a fine line with this sort of shit, though. If Skial banned such sprays, we'd have to go ahead and ban all sorts of pornographic sprays too, and I don't think I'd be able to handle that.

End of story.
Declined.

"If I'm going to prison for possession of illegal images, YOU'RE ALL COMING WITH ME!"

You can technically get in trouble over something like that, but its extremely unlikely. Even if someone sprays something illegal like CP the FBI isn't going to hunt down every last single person playing on the server at the time to jail them over having TF2 automatically download the spray.

Hell, look at 4chan. Even with moderators CP still goes through /b/ every now and then which means that random people are automatically downloading the CP thumbnails to their cache due to the thread previews before they even know its there. If the police went after anyone and everyone who simply visits /b/ and has the misfortune of seeing some CP thumbnails then there would be a lot of innocent people in jail right now.

Actually, not saying this is the law everywhere, but I do remember in NY there was a ruling that if CP is contained in a temp folder and is shown to be automatically downloaded without having to manually initiate it, then you cannot get in trouble for it being on your computer.

Yeah the law for this is generally (afaik, I am not a lawyer) that they have to show explicit motivation to obtain the images or media or else the judge will be like lolno.

A girls tits- fine
A guy with a knife through the dick- NOT cool.
Those sprays should be banned. +1
EDIT: okay guys, its confirmed. Ruelel thinks getting a knife through your dick is cool

that's why I used the qualifier "potentially"

I'm fairly certain that law enforcement will also leave you alone if you were the one who reported it to them, since it's fairly obvious that since you alerted them to its existence, you didn't mean to come across it

Yesterday I went to spray my "There is no need to be upset star," and then a spray of a nude furry shows up.

"Blade you probably have furry porn all over your computer." :(
