Scarcely Lethal Noob
I like to go on the NY and the US Badwater 24/7 servers as the servers generally are full anytime of the day. With that said, since so many rounds are played in a day, eventually the map gets to counts of 100 wins to 100 wins or more, and the map begins to lag terribly. No, it is not me lagging. In Souce, maps that run too long without being reset or changed on a server begin to glitch out and lag for everyone after a while. Honestly, these maps need to be reset more often then once a day or however you all have it set up to prevent this lag. Maybe set a 3 hour timer for the maps to reset? I am not sure how other skial servers are set up, but these 2 servers could use it since they get so much traffic.

Whatever floats your boat. These maps just need some kind of timer on them to reset. 4 or 5 would be fine too.

I'm not certain about all of the technical details and what not, but if it does cause lag due to not being reset enough then +1

I have never had a problem with the skial servers. Don't they reboot once every day? i don't exactly know.

But yeah, i like how it is now. Resetting every three hours is stupid and we will be getting a lot of complaints about it. If the servers really were causing everyone to lag then we would know.

Not to mention resetting the server will cause it to empty out.....

they reboot every two days

I think every 12 hours would do nicely, maybe at 12 in the morning and 12 at night?

Twice a day map resets would be a lot better than a hard restart once every 2 days.

The servers will not empty out. If you ever look at the trend for Skial Badwater servers, they are full more than they are empty. People will not be booted out for a map reset, as it is like a new map loading, and it will optimize the performances of the server as well as the players playing on the server. So in all things taken into account, there is no reason why this cannot happen.

This can even be transcended onto other Skial servers to make sure those servers are being run as efficiently as possible.

Now, are you suggesting that the servers go down completely and get rebooted, or that they run a changelevel command?

why? you get reconnected as soon as the game ends

I used to have a HLDS server that I dedicated for my Highlander team to practice on. Trust me, it can up to 10 minutes to load up, even more considering skial uses SourceMod and plugins.

There are a bunch of weirdos who go for 1000+ scores so this might make them rage. Also does resetting the map really make that much of a difference? I don't have any problems with the way it is now so I don't see the point in changing it. Is there really any evidence that infrequent resets cause lag? Or is this just one of those things people say to avoid blaming their own internet or PC? I'm not saying that's the case I just want to know.

The servers get a lot of traffic because we take every effort not to reboot or reload them until absolutely necessary.

Every time a reboot or reload happens, people will leave, even causing the server to empty out.

We are already reloading maps every day and I did not notice any lag.
