Legendary Skial King
Instead of clicking TF2 Forums/General forums to find the rules, just make a link up top. Also it's much easier for new users to find it. A drop down menu would be nice to separate server and forum rules

+1 I hate having to explain which rule people are breaking, it would be much easier if they simply knew them before hand.

The rules are already stickied in the report and appeal section. So in fact people should notice / read these stickies before making a thread. Also in game it's already prominent present. So a no if it requires a lot of scripting work, but yes if it's a piece of cake.

Tip, use Firebug:
If it looked like this, that'd be awesome.

Why not... I also suggest making it more visible on the servers. Like once you get on, after the ad (or the white screen that comes and and you have to click okay) it says to do the rule command to see them.

This suggestion is pointless... people ask for a list of servers where there is a "Servers" tab up top. They ask how to do the *spoiler* code when there's a "Help" tab that explains everything. They ask where to donate when there is a "Donations" tab. Putting in a "Rules" tab would be equally ignored.

Anyone with a few working brain cells who wants to find the rules would search for "Server Rules" and easily find the sticky... which is already in several sections of the site.
Having the rules on the forum isn't nearly as important as having them accessible in the servers. People don't come to the forum to learn the rules and if they do, it's already easy to find.

When you connect to a Skial server at the top of the MOTD there is a message that says "type /help to learn the rules, how to ban troublemakers, and more..."

The same message repeats like every 20 seconds in chat. There used to be a message that said "type /rules to see the rules" which was replaced with the /help message... I do think the /rules should still pop up in chat in conjunction with /help.

Even if we put a big orange and red flashing "SERVER RULES CLICK HERE" at the top of the site people are fucking retarded and will still ask what the rules are or say they can't find them.

People who get banned will always say they didn't know they were breaking the rules whether they really knew or not. Either way it's irrelevant with Skial's lax 1-day punishments and their own inability to learn the few rules that we have.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer (not really) but this just isn't worth Bottiger's time and there isn't exactly an epidemic of retards who can't seem to find the rules... and even if there was no amount of accessibility would fix that.

this is just a simple little improvement to the website. Bottiger is always making the website better with small improvements here and there and its not that hard to put a rules tab onto the website so I doubt it would be a waste of his time. I just suggested to make it easier to find them nothing more. So I dont know why you would want to discourage a little improvement to Skial. Yes if you look you can easily find the rules but whats wrong with having them on a tab on top too?

I'm not really opposed to it I just think it's a waste of time and I don't understand why everyone is making a big deal when there are more important suggestions imo.

+1 every improvement is an improvement no matter how small... it would do no harm whatsoever to have the rules more accessible. not exactly a priority, but still, there is no negative aspect to having this in place.

What im wondering is, if people think that its so hard to do !rules. Why do they think people will go to the forums for rules?

I would like if 'common sense' was a requirement to have to join the servers.

Unfortunately, that is more rare to see these days than a post that are not dumb-rated by Mittens.

I'm suggesting this for idiots like yourself who seem to forget the rules and constantly get themselves banned. Now every time you log into skial it will be right next to the forums tab so you can easily click on when you forget. :)

Ive never been banned from the servers. Just from the forums.

I wasn't talking about the servers. You were asking a dumb question. My suggestion is not to attract new people to the forums just to read the rules its just a little site improvement.

I don't know how difficult this is, so I thought I'd ask; I know some servers have the rules displayed onscreen sort of like the votemenu when you first connect to the server, and you press [whatever] to continue and close it. Would it be difficult for us to have something similar, since even though you can immediately close it, it's much harder to ignore than a message in chat that requires you yourself to type "!rules". Most people don't look at any of the MOTD stuff right when they connect, even if it is in a bright color in chat.

It's quite simple but that suggestion would be for a new thread not this one

This would not be hard at all to make. I don't understand what the fuss is about.
Yes, people will not read the rules. It happens. That's like saying we shouldn't publish rules because scrubs don't read them.
I'm tired of having to dig through subforums to find the rules. They should be prominent and have a link from the top nav bar.
