For some reason turning the view models off just makes my performance poorer than turning it on.

I normally keep all of mine on, except for the Spy's ambassador, in which I have a script for.

People say view models are distracting, I say no view models are very distracting.

I found a nice balance between having them on/off in using cl_first_person_uses_world_model 1. Usually turn that off if I'm playing demo / spy / medic for various reasons, but it's made my scout / pyro / heavy gameplay a lot better.

I turn them off for scout because I feel like it helps my aim but I keep them on for all the other classes cause im used to it

You do realise that higher FOV means you can see more of the world around you and therefore will perform better because you get surprised less? :s

I also have a viewmodel FOV of 85/90 (can't remember) when I do have viewmodels on (have scripts which turn them off for a few weapons)
