It's come to my attention that there are a few users who are posting in the trade forums who are keeping their backpacks private. Obviously, there are a few legitimate reasons for doing this, but it tends to mostly be done only by people who are trying to hide their trade histories from public view, almost always for the sake of scamming.

I think this would only need to be enforced in the Cash/Other sections, and not in the Steam-to-Steam trade sections, since there's still very little risk of being scammed through those methods. But when somebody is trying to make money on a trade and has something to hide, it looks very suspicious.

I think we should be issuing SKIAL CAUTION tags on users caught doing this, as well, just to make sure they get the message.

I'm posting this idea publicly because I want to make sure that everybody else would be okay with such a rule change before I act upon it and start tagging people for keeping their backpacks private.

+1, private backpacks in general are annoying when it comes to trading, even if someone has an item I need or doesn't have an item they want and I can sell it to them, if they have a private backpack, I couldn't care if they'd end up overpaying me or if I'd end up sharking them, I'm not going to go through the trouble of having someone and have it be a crap shoot on whether we're gonna make a trade or not.

+1

Other sites like Outpost have this rule, we should too.

Voting no on the caution tag thing though. Just put them in timeout or something.
