Depending on how much you spent on your refined (Real money or items) 2.66 is still cheaper than buying from the store. About $0.10 cheaper, but still. If I spend $2.50 on a key, I want to get an equivalent amount of refined.
Of course this depends on the current average price of refined metal, which is somewhere around $0.90

Either way I sell keys for 2.55, so don't buy from this guy <3

Actually, people are going to continue to tell you off about your prices. With good reason.

A few things:
  • Your profile is private. This means that you're probably hiding something. Most reported scammers on Steam Rep also have their profiles set to private, so that people can't view their backpack to see their stolen goods, and so that you can't add them as friends, to see when they change their display names to impersonate somebody else.
  • You seem to say that you've sold over 30 keys at 2.66. I find this hard to believe, since in the many trade servers that I frequent, nobody is actually buying for 2.66. Nobody at all. The only time I saw somebody buy for 2.66 was when somebody was unboxing a crate #30, and if you have #30, the price of a key doesn't matter, since you can resell whatever you get for plenty of metal (he got a S.Gunslinger, by the way).
  • You seem to think that you decide the market value of a key. You don't. You know who does? Valve, and let me explain why. Valve sets the Mann Co price of the key at $2.49 USD. This price hasn't changed. Now, metal also has monetary value among traders, and it's currently worth about $0.80 USD for 1 refined metal. This puts the value of keys at approximately 1.33 refined, give or take a scrap or so. Now, the reason that the value of keys in metal also doesn't fluctuate is because Mann Co is the only way a key can be made. They can't be crafted, and they do not drop. This means that all keys - every Mann Co Supply Crate Key in the entire world - was created by somebody spending $2.49 in the Mann Co store. Therefore, the prices of keys in metal do not change, until the value of metal increases/decreases, which is unlikely to happen any time soon, as metal is produced at a very steady rate.
  • You're being a dick, which also leads me to believe that you're lying about selling as many keys as you are at those prices. Just profiling your character based on the way you talk to people, y'know.
So, maybe if you don't want people to complain about your prices, you should offer the fair market value. A value which you do not decide.

Nobody's begging anything. To call anybody a beggar is kinda asinine, since there are still plenty of people who are actually selling for 2.33. Since, y'know, that's the normal rate.
