Oh yea, I'm not trying to blast you for doing what you figured needed to be done, however, I think the best course of action would have been to say straight out "Hi Guildy, I noticed you used the voteban function, why did you do this?" and it would have been clear that he wasn't doing it to be a dick. It takes just as long to type that sentence out as it does to ban a steamID anyhow, right? You would have been all clear to ban him then if he gave you a snide response or otherwise acted immature about it.
I don't think he's even aware that there's an appeals function, but I'll pass it onto him if he's perma-d and he can handle his own appeal.

I somewhat do agree with this. But then, I look back and remember how 89% of the players who get banned are huge assholes in general, and think that only kick/ban are worth it. Admins aren't going to waste half an hour dealing with jackasses who cheat or grief, if someone is doing something that's eventually going to empty your server, you take immediate action. If the person isn't happy, that's their problem, they shouldn't have done that in the first place.admin csay to warn the player > slay(or gag depending on what's happening) > kick > ban
If he kept calling a vote and it kept failing....
A. He should have found a new course of action if he really thought the person was cheating.
B. That's vote abuse.
C. 1 day ban is a warning imo see my earlier post.
A regulars word means nothing more than any random player, everyone should be treated equal, in fact there is an argument to say, a regular should know better and be more aligned with the rules, so bearing that in mind, should a regular breaking the rules be penalised harsher than someone with 10 minutes playtime on our servers? Me, I don't think so, but there is a debate to be had there as well.Except he called the vote only once, it failed, then he continued to play the game up until he was banned. It's all there in his twitch VODs, unless I missed something in the blink of an eye.
Which is why I'm surprised that that ended up in a ban, but less so in that the person he started the vote on took exception to it, and possibly called an admin, and I can see how that would end up if it was the word of a regular against a rando.
Your friend ended up with a 1 day ban which is now long expired, there is nothing we can do to rectify that now. Perhaps this thread should focus more on "should admin's provide info on how to appeal a ban when issued?" so that people know they have that course of action if they feel their ban was unwarranted.
Yeah it's probably difficult to execute, also not sure how long the max string can be in the 'reason' when you issue a ban. Also it's probably a bad idea, because what you are actualy saying straight off is 'I might be wrong about banning you' and would probably create a long list of invalid appeals.I think giving a link to the Skial forums or something like that with a message stating that "you can appeal your ban here" would be a good idea, but it would be hard to get it across cause you'd either have to drop it in chat or message them on steam. If you dropped it in chat, you'd have to provide a message stating [PERSON] I am going to ban you now, followed by the message. Then you'd have to give them a little time to absorb it. I don't think you can provide it in the console reason but I could be wrong.
