Make it so that new forum accounts can't give or receive ratings until they have at least 10 posts.

This will prevent people who make accounts for ban appeals from getting negative ratings as well as giving disagree/dumb ratings when they rage at their unban denial.

This will also prevent new users from being discouraged when their first few forum posts receive bad ratings.

As it is now new users cannot post links until they have at least 2 messages. Apply this to ratings as well, 10 posts shows they are actually active and may then give/receive ratings.

I'm not taking it seriously. Truly I don't overly care about the community here, I come because the game servers although these forums can be fun.

A few things...Mittens your last post you said ratings don't really matter...then why start this post to begin with...also if you want to welcome new members...putting agree or something like that on their posts to welcome is...well dumb. Sending an email or putting a post welcoming that user is not so dumb.

I already answered this, try reading.

Concerns can be addressed the same as questions.
Okay it makes complete sense now, you clearly say where I posted "Mitten,I'm not taking it seriously. Truly I don't overly"....oh wait it must be a typo that I didn't put your name in the beginning of that post....it couldn't have been that I was replying to the "why so serious" comment from Tomat...

So what was that about try reading?

Peaceout folks, time for work. Kittens I;ll see you tonight in Tf2.

Instead of disabling ratings for new users, if negative ratings are going to be such a problem for people then why don't we remove some of them?

In all honesty, if there was only the ability to rate things Like, Dislike, Agree, and Disagree, I bet this place would be a hell of a lot happier.

Nah I like all the ratings... I wish there was an "ugly" rating for some pics people post.

The point is to make new users not feel alienated and to get rid of the ratings in the support section at the same time, sort of killing two birds with one stone...

I use Troll/Confusing as an Ugly or Oh God, what in the actual fuck rating.

Agreed.

In a lot of cases Informative and Useful are barely distinguishable. And Neat is pretty much the same as Like, and Winning is a combination of Like and Funny. And who uses Troll anyway? Everyone on this forum just assumes everyone is dumb and aren't intentionally being stupid.

The most negative rating I use is disagree, the gentleman's dumb rating.

So your telling me...people actually GIVE A SHIT about ratings?

Forums vets don't and you can all sit here and say they don't matter but the point is that new users don't know the difference. It's also gonna keep the reports/ban section cleaner.

And if you really don't think ratings matter why would you be against allowing new accounts to rate?

they don't know the difference, but what will it matter if ratings aren't a big deal?

I '-1' about your disabling ratings

Allow friendly, likes, and disagrees in the intro section.
Remove all ratings in the Ban Appeal section.
Allow Agrees and Disagrees in the reports (if someone else was on the server they can dispute or agree with your claim).

ironically, Disagree isn't negative, so receiving it doesn't count toward a user's Negative Nancy trophy. Neither does Optimistic count for Positive Pauline. those two ratings are neutral
