Valve takes too much money from the Community Market

They take approximately 1/7 of everything you make. That's like 15%. Who the fuck charges that much for "fees"? Especially when many of the items come from their store already, meaning they already made a lot of money just from putting the items in circulation. Something more reasonable would be like 3%. This is making it extremely hard to make money on the Community Market from arbitrage, unless someone sells an item for extremely cheap.

I'm pretty sure the market isn't the place to go if you want to make an actual profit, sure you can sell your stuff for more money but the money you get is only as valuable as what you buy with it.

Plus, the whole thing is a super easy way for Valve to bring in millions of extra cash, they make money when you add funds to your account, they make money when someone buys an item from the store, they make even more money if that item is then resold on the market, and finally they make even more money off of the game you buy with your steam wallet.

Isn't 15% the same rate Blizzard charges for Diablo III transactions?

I mean, Valve isn't trying to let people make a profit on this.

idk I sold a 2-3 ref item for $1.50 I'm pretty happy.

But yeah, let's complain about a couple of $s, there's still room on the bandwagon.
