Look, I'm getting into Team Fortress 2 now that I will be living here for a while, and I want to specialize in one class only. I don't want to have to keep switching classes in one game just to get a kill, I want to have one class with a loadout that I can practice and practice on until I'm one the bigs I commonly see around here on Skial.

Please, I need some honest recommendations with some good proof behind it, techniques and loadouts, etc. If you want to, you can PM a response if it is long, please nothing useless, because I really just wanna be known as "the guy with the {insert gun here}" Thanks, Skial.

Also, not Engineer, because I want a class that doesn't cower behind metal contructions, anyone can do that.

Yeah, I used to have this kind of mentality but you won't keep it up. Yeah, you'll get good as a class but eventually two things will happen. You'd either find something your class just can't deal with or you get bored of it. I started out maining Pyro in order to get airblasting and ambushing down but I was still fairly new, sentries were everywhere, and I couldn't deal with anything outside my usual range. I eventually branched out to Medic, then Soldier and those three became my main classes. Right now I'm working on Scout and Demoman, mostly to improve my aim (currently only using the Loch n' Load for Demo)

But if you want a jack-of-all trades kind of class, I'd go with Soldier or Demoman. Good for general mayhem, good for pocketing, good for mobility if you get around to explosive jumping, etc. Heavy is similar, minus the mobility, though you might get flak for maining as Heavy since there's a lot less skill to him when compared to some of the complex stuff you can do with the former two classes. Medic's main skills are easy to master and you'd be the winning edge for a team, but most people shy away from it since you're, well, just a medic.

you should develop skill in more than one class, if not all of them. we can't choose what suits you best, only you can decide that.

So... what should I do then? Because I'm kind of annoyed of going 2 and 72 in every game I EVER play. People just aren't teamwork'y enough on servers.

Well, Soldier is a good choice for you, it got very good techinics, like rocket jumping, goombin' with the manthreads, airkilling with the market gardener, and things like that, but i cant confirm any good loadouts for it :/

Other one aswell, it's the scout, it's considered the most OP class in-game, obviously, if you got skill, people tend to do the recently sandman guillotine, wich the person stun somebody with the sandman and throw a Flying Guillotine, wich makes crits when the victim is stunned, a good loadout, is the original one, scattergun, pistol and bat.

You could try as a pyro too, the technics are easier than scout and soilder ones, it has 3 types of playing with the pyro:
1 - W+M1 -The most noobish, wich is just burning everybody that comes in your path
2 - Airblast shoot - This is very simple, pull your victim on the air, switch to shotgun, and kill it in mid-air, everybody who does this, use an reserve shooter, wich does crits on airborne enemies
3 - Axtinguisher - This is simple too, just by burning your victim, and attack him with the axtinguisher, wich does crits on burning peeps
A good loadout for the pyro for executing those techniques, is a Degreaser, reserve shooter, and axtinguisher, you could do too the detonator jump, is like rocket jumping, but with the detonator, wich the projectile explodes on contact with a flat surface.

>setting a sentry with only 125 health in the midst of gunfire
>have the closest thing people can get to a supply closet in a battle field
>be practically the only class that needs time to set up any decent weapons
>be the first thing Snipers aim for when you're carrying a building
>be Spy bait
>Engineer
>coward
Son, what are you saying, I don't even...

Some of the most skilled players around main soldier and demo. They're rather powerful and don't rely too much on team support (just in case you have an awful team in a pub). Demo - all stock (or maybe caber for teh lolz). Soldier - standard rl, shotty, escape plan set (or you could use gunboats instead when you get super amazing at rocket jumping)
Other great classes which get pretty epic when you learn them well are scout (seems like a weak class, but could potentially be really great) and pyro (too many w+m1 pub pyros - need more of those huey lewis types)
Spy is always fun to get really good at, but there are already so many "pro spies" out there

My honest opinion.

Im around your level. Although i go positive im far from good. Soldier is always an easy start. Pop on some gunboats and if you can handle and time rockets you are golden.

Medic also. Medics are so underrated. You dont know how powerful they are, i believe their melees are one of the most damaging. Stay in groups and keep moving.

It also helps to know whst other classes do. You might not realize it but each class has moving habits and patterns. Scout jumping back and forth medic staffing soldier rocketjumping.

And one of the most important things to remember is to know when to push and when not too. If you try to spawncamp alone chances are you will die alot as you would charging chokepoints. Know when to push and were. Chances are you get pissed you die ajd try to charge to get rid of the domination or etc.

Judging from your dim view of engineers, play demo.
I've used Loch-n-Load for months now and only one person has played the "demospam" card on me.

Also, have you tried playing combat engie? Or roaming around the setup? You're liable to get your stuff RTR'd but that's one update away from not being a problem.

Alright, I guess maybe I should go Mini sentry Engi, Fan O War Scout (For the mini-critz), And Soldier with gunboats... thanks guys.

Because I'm rethinking Engineer and his Mini-Sentry

I've tried being the best at one class multiple times as different classes. I've come to find out it's better to be good at multiple classes. Each class is different and helpful in different situations. The main Classes I play are Sniper, Scout, Soldier, Pyro and Medic. I do play sniper more then others, but if my team has to many snipers or sniper isn't helpful for the situation at hand, I'll probably switch to a better class for the situation.

You should really try to get as good as possible with all nine classes. Reason for that is because then you will have a very good feel for each class' strengths and weaknesses (as opposed to simply knowing about them from what you've read or heard about). Once you're done with that you can try to focus one one class.

For the class, I'd recommend Soldier - be sure to get really good at rocket jumping, practice a ton. Rocket jumping is one of the best parts about Team Fortress 2 and is what defines the best soldiers from the rest (though there is a difference from being able to rocket jump, and rocket jumping well).

do not be a engineer with a mini sentry then your making problems for everyone else in the team

personally i think heavy or demo are good classes there are some easy perks to them and also some difficult to master but it can be an enjoyable experience

Drill Segeant

Somewhat Threatening Sniper
Pyro is a good first class to start out with.

Pyro is the 2nd most "needed skills" because of ambushing, Pyro is pretty vulnerable to direct combat.

Also, play Soldier. It's balanced, you could play Defence and Offence with Soldier (with the stock weapons) easily.
