Don't you hate it when you accidentally post something in the wrong spot? Or you change your mind but it's too late? It's annoying, and I like the convenience of having a delete post button on the forums. Only for personal use of course (ie, you can't delete other's posts).

People losing an argument? Delete thread. People rage quit the forums because of falsely perceived mistreatment? Delete all their posts.
But if someone starts an argument with someone else, odds are, that the person's gonna reply to the post he wants to argue with. People will see that the person was replying to a deleted post, and not hate him for posting something on a thread.

The person that started the thread can delete the whole thread.

I've already seen this happen which is why I removed it when it was accidentally introduced.

I'd rather not let people delete every single post they have because one of their posts got dumb ratings and I wouldn't remove it for them.

So what if a person says something, then decides they maybe shouldn't have and would like to remove it before someone complains that it offended them, or is shitstirring, or is bashing...etc. So now they get a "warning" rather than fix their error themselves. And i admit.. (raises hand) i am guilty of doing this. Speak before thinking at times.

You shouldn't have written it in the first place then.

And you were one of the people why I disabled it. If you are making multiple threads like this then you need to think a little longer before writing.

The ability to delete your own posts has been around for about as long as I can remember, if it's just a few individuals using it incorrectly why not just disable it for them?

I should note that it doesn't really seem like it's that widespread of a problem, I understand if it's a ton of people not wanting to configure permissions for them, but if it's just a few people.

I see more problems with having the ability to delete your own posts rather than not being able to, really.
