1) Take a look at the report in the Report section of the forum, note down the name of the person and their Steam ID, why he's been reported, what server they are currently on and who filed the report.
2) While going in, i would grab a beer and try to find the the person in question on...
a) SteamRep, to see if they have any convictions.
b) SourceBans, to see if they have had any previous convictions.
3) When in the server, i was immediately type into console "record Report[suspects name]" and spectate the person in question.
Depending on the hack in question i would look for the following things....
a) Aimbotting- Sudden movements prior to shot, headshots hitting and occuring a vast majority of the time, following enemy players through walls, shooting at cloaked spies.
b) Obvious Critical Hacks, Speed Hacks
c) Auto Meelee is a little more difficult (regarding spies) , I'd look for spies who back stab perfectly without any fault.
d) Let me know if you want me to detail any other hacks
4) If the suspect is clearly hacking... i would ban him on the spot with the following console command.
/sm_ban #[Their Steam id, found by typing "Status" into console if i didnt have it ready] 0 "Using Aimbot/other hacks
I feel Hacking to any extent is worthy of permanent bans, if they feel like it was unjustly or they really cared about the Skial Servers, they can come to the forums and make their appeal, in which the ban may be reduced.
I'd then type "Stop" into the console and save the Demo. In which i would upload to a media sharing website such as Mediafire.
Go back to the forums where the report was originally filed.
Post links the the Sourcebans page and the Mediafire page where i would have uploaded the evidence/demo.
I would have also noted down specific points in the video where the hacks can clearly be seen.
5) In the event of unclear evidence, i would take the following steps...
a) talk to the person who filed the report to get their say in what they believe is hacking, ask if they have any evidence or so.
b) ban the person in question for 20minutes
/sm_ban #[STEAM ID lalalalal] 20 "Investigating Possible Hacking"
c)Upload the Demo recorded, post notes on various points in the demo where i believe hacking to be present and ask other/senior admins and forum regulars for any opinion they might have. From there, we can increase the ban or remove it if we have taken less than 20minutes to come to a conclusion.
