Scarcely Lethal Noob
Hi, I just found out on SteamRep that I was marked as "fake repping". That's pretty odd, because I barely even rep anyone, even though I make a lot of trade; and even so, I only rep people I've traded with... So I'd like an explanation regarding the unfortunate event. If you need anything from me, just ask, I've always been a fair trader, and I certainly don't deserve to be marked as "scammer".

Thanks for your time.

PS: I will be out of town next wednesday, I'll be back on the 4th of september.

You posted rep on this known scammer's profile:

The rep you posted:

http://grab.by/fk3m

He has been impersonating other high-profile traders for several months now. On the day you left rep on his profile, many other questionable users also posted rep, as well. All at once like that seems really suspicious.

I'll remove the scammer tag if you can prove that you traded with him. Open your Steam profile, go to your inventory, and click Inventory History. Go back to the approximate date (4/20/2012) and screenshot something showing that you did, in fact, trade with this guy.

alright then, here's a screenshot of the deals: http://imgur.com/5f1Rf
tell me if you need ore, thanks.
Awesome. Thank you for your cooperation. I'll have the tag removed shortly.

In the future, be wary about who you leave rep for. This guy's been scamming people with that account for a long time, impersonating a lot of different people.

Wtf does that mean? This system works with leaving rep. If your trade is legit why should you have to prove its legit if you left good rep for the trader? Be wary? How about no one leaves rep unless they speak to you first.

This whole rep deal is out of hand. Valve needs to be part of this IMO. The guy above trades on his end above board and gets a scammer tag because you have a hard on for the other guy?

It's for the same reason we don't like people doing high-value trades with scammers. Especially considering he'd got a large amounts of rep from suspicious accounts that day.

For future reference, I'd like to see an attempt made to communicate with the person accused in this case. It wouldn't have been marked in the first place if he had be asked beforehand for the screenshot. It should be innocent until proven guilty, especially in a rep case like this.

Unless you bothered to look people up on Steamrep like intelligent people. And not leave rep on Steam profiles, also like intelligent people.
So you're saying if I want to trade someone a scrap for a wep, I need to look them up on Steamrep to make sure they won't somehow scam me off my scrap right? So know I have to check everyone I trade, even though the trade is safe right?

Technically, you probably should, but nobody really gives fucks about low-value trades. High-value or cash trades, however, and it starts to get problematic.

Also, it could lead to the scammer managing to sell his scammed items.

Due diligence is on the person that's trading to them, so yeah. Generally if you trade with a "known" scammer, it's a caution tag. After a few trades with them it's a scammer tag on you too since you're helping encourage the scamming. The reason you're getting a good deal is because they probably ripped it off someone for free. Providing +rep to someone who is a known scammer is not a good idea. Granted though, I think Xel should have checked before applying the tag anyways

What's this 'we' stuff. If I choose to deal with a scammer that's on me. If there is enough blowback on a player Valve will put a trade ban in place. I don't need your advice or overview on a trade I would like to make.

Steamrep is also a private website. Stop waving your individualism around.
