Trolling, man or myth?

Often in many of the servers i play on i hear the word "trolling" thrown around. At first i did not know what was meant by this. After a quick youtube search i found many great examples of people trolling. To me trolling is harrasment to the point of affecting gameplay or the enjoyment of a server. I honestly believe that that the term "trolling" is used way to often, and in cases where it is not even remotely close to honest "trolling". Is it okay to come on a server and just start bashing everyone, or picking out one person that you dont know and just non-stop harrassing them? I believe the answer to that is no. However i also do believe a little shit talking adds to the enjoyment of even competitiveness of a game. As some of you know, i love talking shit to people. I also realize there is a fine line between a little shit talking and "trolling". The question is where is that line? I believe it is different for everyone. I would love to hear your opinions or thoughts on this. Often times i wonder if i have crossed a line with a specific person. I can usually tell by talking to a person for less then a minute just how sensitive they are. Personally i dont care what anyone online has to say about me, because less face it. I dont know you, and you dont know me. So why would your opinion of me matter? I totally agree that "trolling" in its true form should not be tolerated. I also think that there are allot of drama queens, and little girls who take a little shit talking way to personally. So tell me, what do you consider trolling? Oh, and before i end this let me just say. I dont give a shit about my spelling errors, and if you do.... call you congressmen and complain.

P.S. There is a mute button located in the main menu of TF2. Use it, and shut the fuck up.
 
With you stems, I realize what you do is not meant to be offensive, or sometimes just satirical. I personally enjoy what you bring to our server. I agree "trolling" is thrown around WAY too often. It crosses the line when it begins to affect everyone's enjoyment of the game. Go back a few weeks to the Scrambles and Badguy incident for a perfect example.

I didn't read that, but I'm reminded of time I asked people on the idle server what's trolling. Some people were saying that if you listen to the trololo song you are troll.
 
A troll is someone who does or says something provocative with the single-minded goal of eliciting a response--be it positive or negative. The behavior is shown by people who can't get anyone to pay attention to them in real life.
