Let's skip the fact that Bruce Springsteen has become an Anti-American, socialist twerp in his old age and concentrate on the question at hand. There's been a movement in this country for decades to have our national anthem deposed and replaced with "America: The Beautiful". It's something that I don't feel is going to come about, because I don't feel there's enough support for shaking up our culture in that way. This whole argument is the product of a very noisy vocal minority. (Honestly, is there such thing as a silent minority?) Most of the arguments against the song rotate around it being adapted from a British drinking song, that or the rather petty accusation that the song is difficult to sing. I can't really find either of those arguments solid. There are plenty of people who can carry the tune properly, despite it's wide vocal range. Clever singers who can't hit the high notes find ways around that. As for it being an adaptation. I can't see anything wrong with that. I mean, look how many songwriters, particularly rap artists, borrow drum beats, baselines, bars, codas or even entire songs in some cases from previous artists. I mean, George Clinton gets robbed of his music all the time. Though I think the man is usually too high to care.

I won't even bother getting into "The Boss". I think I made my feelings on him quite clear.
 
I always liked "Proud to be an American's" tune, but the lyrics never pleased me. SO I RE-WROTE IT!

Cause I'm proud to be in T-A-O-S!
