Many people on saxton actually want the mic spamming and it is easy to client mute, as long as only one person is mic spamming at once then buff overflow is not a problem.

Let's not veer too off topic gents, I'm awaiting a response from the fellows who are in favor of mic spamming to my previous post.

Doctor Who instead of rating all my posts asking for explanations "disagree" how about post why you disagree with them? :D

Can you explain one logical reason to me that you should be allowed to micspam? As I've said a million times ,if you personally or they personally want to hear whatever the hell it is you're spamming, download it for yourself and play it...this way you don't piss off people. If one person can hold an intelligent debate with me on this topic, my opinion might be changed, but until someone presents logical arguments for allowing something that people might leave the server for to be played, when you yourself can play the same shit on your own computer, my opinion remains the same.

Why do people listen to internet radio stations or even regular radio stations? Sometimes you just enjoy something new you may have not heard before. Consider music mic spamming to almost be a music discovery service just like radio can be. I personally hate it but that's also why I simply avoid going to servers where the community enjoys/encourages it.

Ultimately I'm not worried if its officially made a kick/bannable offense, I'm just arguing for some clarity before we go off banning people. Last we heard from Bott on the subject, if people seemed to enjoy it, he didn't really consider it spam. Until we get some clarity on the subject in the form of a written rule, I'm simply against admins running around banning people on the hale servers for doing it, especially when a votemute can potentially solve the problem and avoid them crying about it later.

Since it seems to have never/rarely been enforced in the past, the message was sent to people that it was okay on Hale, if it isn't, make sure its clear in the rules just to shut people up on the subject.

Bolded the important part for you.

You have to consider though that just because a certain server is part of Skial, the people that frequent it the most may not be best represented by the select minority that visit/participate in the forums, therefore it would be its own community, a sub community under Skial as a whole.

Doctor Who: I need an answer on Saxton Hale and the music they play there. Is it allowed or do we have to go in and scare them all away?
Bottiger: just let people handle it with votemenu
Doctor Who: thanks
Doctor Who: Do you mind if I share this with others on the forum?
Bottiger: go ahead
Doctor Who: alright thanks

Boom bam bang. Everybody stop backseat administrating.

Regs should have a Skial forums account. I don't really think it's a sub-community because the forums is the "community" not the servers. The servers, yes, make a part, but not that big of one.

sub community or not - end of the day they are still a part of the skial community. Even if there is a slight majority that enjoys hearing the music....I shall give you a real life example that might be overstating, but I think it's somewhat relevant.

Me and a group of 20 people are walking thru a mall and highly enjoy country music (certainly not the case - it's god awful.) A bunch of other mall patrons enjoy country...does that give me the right to strut around with a giant boombox blasting Carrie Underwood (bad example perhaps of country, but thats the only name I can think of.) with the understanding that the other people there can put their fingers in their ears, wear earplugs - or shop at another mall? Just because it's acceptable to a group of people does not make it any less of obnoxious and server clearing. End of the day we want to keep the skial servers full...I assume it's also why we don't start slapping bans down on people for using "fag" or "faggot." While unacceptable bigoted in much the way it's used, it's way too commonplace for us to do anything about or it'd be half the world banned.

Fact of the matter is simply don't do shit that is blatantly obnoxious no matter how much you or your friends like it, I can't comprehend why this is a hard concept. (not saying you don't disagree with me, but just saying in general.)

Merely going off what we have in the rules, perhaps they should be amended to be more clear on the topic then, it doesn't say 'no micspamming with the exception of saxton hale" it just says no spamming.

Why should they? And no, the forums aren't the only community when dealing with a gaming community like this considering you'll find a damn good chunk of Skial regulars don't have accounts here, the forums aren't important to them and that's completely normal and acceptable. People find a couple servers they enjoy and tend to stick to those for the vast majority of their playing unless they decide they feel like something different, in that situation, individual servers tend to have their own community of people that may very well be separate from the forums.

late to the party:

even if only one person is mic-spamming, it can still cause problems
4 days ago on the Texas Death Run server one user, (I know who, I'm just not giving any names) was spamming crappy dubstep. by crappy I mean he was playing it using his media player of choice and holding his mic up to the speakers

couldn't understand teammates using voice or listen for traps
