What do y'all think about the 99% and the "Occupy Wallstreet" Hooplah going about lately? Do you think its all a bunch of tripe proposed by down on their luck Americans who can't cut it in today's society OR it is an outcry of Americans that our current system is strangling any chance of growth or change?
 
There are obviously significant problems with our financial system and the people in charge of certain banks should be held accountable, but if they want to protest then they should be in Washington. The financial meltdown was allowed to happen, if there was any substantial sort of regulation in place then terrible packages wouldn't have been rated like they were the best investment on earth.

That being said, my roommate does a bunch of stuff with occupy lexington and these people are absolutely retarded. One girl came in my house and said she wanted to turn it into a commune. All they do is sit around, get high, and complain that people don't understand them. A few of them nearly got pneumonia from sitting outside all week "for the cause" without a jacket, and I know multiple people who have skipped school for WEEKS to go protest student loans.

The idea's fine, if a little banal, I just wish they would stop being so bad at protesting. In other news, every time they quote Network I cringe a little bit; it's a great movie, but it isn't at all about what they are "protesting".
 
The problem about them is that they are way too unorganized.They are supposed to be protesting against capitalism and against the system nowadays which favours the economically powered only,but the protests soon degenerate into bullshit.And one more thing - Financial meltdowns like the Recession CANNOT be prevented (for very long anyway).The cycle of recession goes on and on.Such circumstances can only be mitigated.
 
I've read somewhere that the economy has a way to prop itself back up only to drop even lower than last time. At this point we are at the "peak" if you will. This is why so many Americans are afraid that we are going to have another Stock Market crash.

My boss was actually there over the weekend. He said that most people there were actually working people and not employed but just sick of how Wall Street has taken advantage of us.

Personally I think that the stock market is one giant Ponzi scheme. It's Bernie Madoff's scam on a gianormous scale. I don't think it was always this way, but that's how it is now.

It won't. I'll go into stuff like Distribution of America's resources, Where our work forces needs to be, How Medicare and Medicaid needs to be improved, How Obama can go fuck himself just needs to be replaced, How Obama will go on to be relected in 2012 because under his term, Osama Bin Ladin was killed, even though Bush did about 80% of the work for him, etc.
 
Well, think about it, America is in a recession, yet we keep helping other countries when we obviously cannot help ourselves. I'm not saying Obama is a bad president, he just needs to take a closer look on the choices he made.
 
They mad that wall street has too much influence in government. They're right. But so does Hollywood, Unions, foreign countries, etc. It just seems stupid to attack the players when it's the referee's fault. It's the governments fault.
And no one really likes male hippies. Girl hippies are fun in bed, but the damn smell of patchouli makes me want to vomit.
 
The footage of occupy Wall Street has really got me down. High class Wall-Street types taking pictures of the crowds of protesters, as if they're a fucking joke; Police arresting people for trying to cover their technical equipment with a fucking tarp. It's all a bunch of bull shit, I'm really rooting for those guys, but I ain't got much hope that this will change much...

I don't think a crowd of neohippies and Anonymous members have ever helped any movement, EVER!
It's to bad that the legit, non-radical protesters can't get their message across.

and I'll just leave my long-winded political views for a later post
