Declined "Nigger" or "faggot" gets you instakicked/banned

So, for black Americans who show affection and connect with another using the word "nigger," we're really willing to pressure them as a community to stop using that word because of what could potentially become offensive? Don't you think that sounds a bit oppressive?
 
While I agree with Creeping and would love to see "faggot" go away or be an autoban, I also realize that it would probably clear out a good chunk of the server population.

Make it a ban depending on context/use maybe but let the community police itself, if a majority of a server population finds someone is improperly/overly using it, they can just votemute the guy.

Not really.

They made it the issue, from that point forward it simply becomes what's easiest for the admins.

Because society isn't teaching them that they'll never be any better than the uneducated slaves that they used to be? I mean... Seriously. The word isn't the crux of the problem, but it sure as hell is a symptom of it. It's a derogatory word at its core and is only used by people that can't seem to climb out of that hole where they think they belong. Shit, we have a black president. I would think that we would realize as a species that we're all equal and all capable.

BTW, take a gander at http://www.skial.com/stats/hlstats.php?mode=chat&game=tf&server_id=0&filter=nigger&page=1 and go through the pages, how many uses can you find where it's just 2 black people greeting each other?

Those improperly punished for its use would be damn rare and reversing a ban would be pretty easy. Hell, if the server gives a warning on the first offense they'll simply not say it again unless their on some holy crusade and made it their purpose in life to greet each other using the word.
 
Instead of banning/kicking for certain language in chat would it be possible to simply censor/edit out certain words? I know that that's the way Tribes Ascend is set up, most swear/derogatory words are automagically edited out of chat as they are posted.

You seem keenly focused on one example that was given. I concede that I can probably look all day and not find that specific example I gave, but that doesn't make it any less relevant an issue. The principal is that by taking the puritanical view of banning word usage, you limit the freedom of expression that some people can share positive experiences with. This doesn't just go for the word, "nigger," this template applies to all sorts of areas.

Why should one have to reverse a ban for saying a word that is commonly accepted in their vernacular?

See, I think you're assuming that your view of "them" is superior to their own view of themselves. You assume society should teach them the values you hold to be self evident. That behavior you are communicating seems a bit elitist with respect to values judgments.

Not entirely true. Many caucasians have championed the movement against the word, despite the fact that it's MOST FREQUENTLY used by that particular minority group that was oppressed previously.
 
I personally would not like an auto kick/ban for this, because the rule as it stands is pretty fair.

Cause if two people are discussing the oppression of blacks in the world, they'd be banned as soon as they got on to the verbal slurs
 
There'd be too many problems with this, realistically. All of you n1gg3rs and f@gg0ts know what I mean. The best method is to provide chat logs that the admins can look at and monitor. We can see what people really mean better than a script can.

How do we know they're two black people? Technology's cool and all, but I can't see them through their monitor.
 
"Nigga" is friendly. "Nigger" is racist. I live in the hood, and i've never heard a friendly greeting from one black american to another saying "Wusup my Nigger!". Even if it is a friendly racial slur used among black americans, doesn't mean its an okay foe non black americans to use.

Only reason why it's not okay for non black americans is because the word "Nigger" was given to Black slaves back then.

You just hit the nail on the head. My view of "them" IS higher than the their own view of themselves, but it shouldn't be. We're all equal. Unfortunately society sees fit to knock down certain groups and keep them down.
