I don't get it (trade reputation system)

Your feedback MUST either say risky (someone went first) or no-risk (TF2, Steam, Middleman, etc) unless you are reporting a scammer or delayer. Feedback without this information will be deleted.

Not once have I done this nor have I seen much people do this and get their feedback deleted. Am I misunderstanding this or is it being ignored?

Don't think it's really enforced anymore. There was an attempt to enforce it a while back, but that didn't really pan out well. As it is though, reputation is pretty much useless as a number, the only use is if people go though it and look for risk based trades, like paypal.

Edit: Not really sure useless is the best word, but as simply a number, the numbers have been inflated not really showing risky trades. So it's not the best as an indication of trustworthiness so much as it is for whether the trader is polite or quick.

It might be better to move it to a new points rating of some type to ease people off the current system without deleting all their points, I don't think that would be well received.

Maybe adding a new "risky" rating would be beneficial (positive, negative, and neutral risk ratings), all trades that involved some risk would add a point to that category, positive feedback that was properly tagged as paypal etc could be moved over to the risk category.

I've been thinking about this, but I never really brought it up because I don't know how a huge change in the rep system would float peoples boats.

Maybe just make rep only for cash trades.

I brought this up to Bottiger a while back, and he said that the plugin we're using doesn't have the options for this built-in, and he doesn't have the time to code it, himself (after all, he's busy keeping several dozen servers online 24/7, so a forum plugin is probably the last thing on his list).

If anybody else has the technical ability to recode our feedback plugin, I'd suggest taking a crack at it and submitting it to Bottiger for review. Because we definitely need a better system in place, and if somebody could help out the workload on implementing it, I'm sure it'd be well-received.

A good proportion of trades are low end items, so a quick(ehem) steam trade. noone goes first and risk is practicaly nonexistent. thats why this format is kinda obselete.
