Lets get a bit of pretext before I pimp this game. Paradox has been known for their micromanaging strategy simulations of historical time periods. Theyre the kind of games you have to take the time to learn and in most cases just jump in and make mistakes before you can be successful in playing. But the more you learn, the more you're able to do and get a genuine feeling of satisfaction when say, you've united all of Ireland and forever eradicated the English threat by conquering them, or you've revitalized the glory of Rome from its capital and subjugated the entire Mediterranean gulf to your authority. There are so many variances on who you can play, what, and when that this offers many an hour of entertainment to be had.

Now, for their latest game, Paradox takes their entire system and puts it on steroids. Crusader Kings 2 introduces the concept of dynasties and vassalage, making lords within a country playable as well as the king of emperor of that realm. You could play as the king of England, or as a lord of a province in england. Your goals? Completely your own. Steal the english crown for your own, plot with france to overthrow your realm for a seat of power when france conquers the british isles, it is you that ultimately decides what you want and how you want to play. And now you can play an unlimited number of people in the game: From the shores of iceland to the edges of the middle east, pick any baron, duke, king, or emperor and work for your goal. The level of micromanaging with YOUR people as well as adversaries is surprisingly sophisticated.Everyone in the world has their own goals and dreams as well as your own to fulfill economically, religiously, or militarily.

BUY THIS GAME, PLAY IT, AND HAVE FUN DAMMIT.

Paradox is the people who brought us the utterly cathartic, yet wholly unwinnable Pandemic 2?

The only games I truly enjoy from Paradox is Penumbra, and Lead and gold

Eeesh, Lead and Gold sucked. It was like a half-assed TF2 with cowboys. And then the game play was even more half-assed. So it was like half-assed squared.

Which would make it quarter-assed.

I enjoyed the concept and would pay 2.50 for it when it goes on sale again.
