So now there's a scam going on wich includes someone saying that you have a ban report and you will be trade banned perm if you don't talk with this one guy. I opened the link of his profile and it was private,it had a spy pic and the person who said that to me was a virtual friend. Anyways it sounded kinda fishy so i didn't add him as he would probably just say something like ''give me your items or you get banned''. Still my friend would never act like that he probably got his account hacked or he was just a wolf in sheep's cloathing all along. So? Watcha guys think about this?

Edit: I also blocked and unfriended my friend so i don't longer have contact with him that means i can't know what was that guy's profile unless that happens again

DEFSE ANOTHER EDIT?: by the way i saw my blocked list and my ''friend'' profile is :https :// steamcommunity . com /id / 78999965464 ignore the spaces

It's a pitiful act and its even worse when people fall for it. I usually act like an edgelord to the scammers who add me but a friend of mine actually fell for it. Lost over $600

Honestly, you've got to be pretty stupid if you fall for scams like this. First step when someone you don't know adds you is look at their profile. Second step is not clicking on any links they send you unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's a real website. Third step is making your profile private so bots and shit don't add you and try to scam you. This should be common sense.

You're arrogant just for thinking I was only talking about you. Scams are ridiculously easy to see through yet people are dumb enough to still fall for them. So the people that fall for scams probably deserve it.

Scammers aren't targeting smart individuals. They use broken English and shitty tactics because they're trying to find someone who doesn't immediately recognize it as a red flag, and that lets them get their hooks in deeper and eventually lead to a scam.

Sure it might take a while but even one success nets you a decent amount of money, so they keep trying and trying.

To add to what Blade said, what's the risk for scammers?

They lose nothing if they don't scam you. Their account may or may not get reported and trade banned. Then they just go make or steal another account and continue on.

    Steam is a hackers/scammers/dirtbags paradise.

Honestly if Steam made a ONE time payment fee of something relatively small ($5-10) they would reduce the amount of bullshit that happens on their product.

Xbox and PlayStation require subscriptions to even play online yet people pay much more than $10 to have that feature. As a result, hackers/scammers on those platforms are much less rampant than on Steam.

San said you have to at least make $5 in purchases on steam to do very basic things like add friends or various steam functions.

I feel like these dickweeds are subverting this barrier somehow.

Then they need to do some user education. People still fall for that "I'm a Nigerian prince who needs money" scam somehow.
