Recently an old version of the TF2 source code has been leaked which has spurred rumors about hackers being able to run code on player's computers.

We have examined the evidence presented so far and believe that the rumors are so far indeed rumors. But even though it is highly unlikely that the exploit exists, it is still a non-zero possibility so it is up to you to decide whether or not to play TF2 until Valve makes an official statement.

We will not be shutting down our servers until there is solid proof that an exploit exists. So far everything we've seen come from easily faked screenshots. It should also be noted that the source code was already leaked back in 2012 and nothing much came from it. We also have inside sources in the TF2 hacking community (who discovered the spray crash) who have said that no one knows of an exploit and that fake screenshots and videos were being posted "for the lulz".
