Hm, no actually. I installed some updates, but it never actually needed me to reboot it.
Would that actually affect it?

Turn your computer off and turn it back on. don't reboot. Believe it or not there is a different between rebooting and shutting down.For example, shutting a computer down completely clears the ram.

Try that and let me know.

Would've been interesting to hear from the other Mac users - are they experiencing the same issue? From what I've read through the forums this issue seems to be a server-side one and affects multiple Mac users.

Im a Mac user. Usually when this happens I have to reinstall Steam.
 
How to fix any crash/error/problem on your computer:

1: Restart your computer.
2: Restart your router.
3: Look on the first page on Google with a related search.
4: Cry in the corner when you can't find anything helpful.
5: Accept the defeat and re-install the entire OS.

Works every time!

Reinstalling the OS works every time no matter what with SW :P

With solid state technology, formats are SUPER easy to do

Yeah, always reboot or shut down and start up your PC after an OS update, 9 times out of 10, if you don't, things are bound to go haywire inside of your PC.
